Honesty Never Gets Old

Small Business Tip
QUICK INTRO – I now have a YouTube channel. Please subscribe if you want to learn how to win government grants! Take care! Dave
Hello Everyone,
Many who visit my website want to start or grow a business.
You can get a list of startup grants on my website for Alberta and British Columbia.
Given the economy lately, and the number of people signing up on Shopify, I assume many of you are thinking about taking the leap. The same leap I took back in 2012.
It’s not easy. In fact the journey can be confusing, but you can do it! Heck ya you can!
You’ll get all kinds of free advice on your business journey, and you’ll have to sort through what you can use.
Regardless of your education or experience, my video tip this week will put more money in your business bank account than any grant.
I know it’s different than my usual grant videos, but I hope it offers you some help if you’re launching or growing a business during these unusual times.

Website Grants for Non-Profits
Well, well, well.
Last week I wrote about a guest post I did for my friends at Paper Leaf. They wanted to know: are website development grants for Canadian non-profits available when it comes to building a new website?
The short answer: Yes.
A couple of my astute readers quickly pointed out, “Dave, the CIP Project-Based Grant is currently closed.”
For those of you who read my book, you know that grants open and close all the time. That is a HUGE part of grants. You need to be tracking grants so when they open, you can pounce on them.
Why do you think I started the Alberta Grant Gazette? It solves the problem of tracking grants by sector. Between you and me, most people have no idea what they are missing. For $550 you can get educated on grants and track deadlines directly to your inbox twice a month. It’s crazy that more people are literally letting thousands of dollars slip away.
One last thing while I’m ranting. And it honestly kills me to say this, but here it goes. Many people have been asking me for years about “cannabis-based grants,” even for medicinal purposes. I recently found out that someone I know invested in medical cannabis company. I asked if they knew about a cannabis grant that I featured in the January 2 of 2 Gazette. The CEO didn’t even now about it – never mind even apply! How sad! I’ll keep screaming to everyone on this email until you win. You can sign up here for the June 1 issue. Work with me people 🙂

MAJOR WIN!!!
I don’t brag about my clients much, but I have to share this one. I’m reading Richard Branson’s Finding My Virginity book, so I was going to title this section “Losing Grant Virginity.” I chickened out.
One of my clients just won his first grant. He is now getting 75% off on his intellectual property and tax bills. How crazy is that? I was so happy for him. I’m currently 6-0 on this grant, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s all I should write day and night!
Fun grant fact: in 8 years of my business, I have never had a lawyer call me and say, “Ummm, how can grants grow my legal practice?” How sad. As you’ll see in my video above, I can only work with one legal firm in the province. I’m waiting for your call…whoever you are. Hopefully they won’t be calling me for any other reasons!

Tip of the Week
Read the grant guide over and over and over before you write!
The Alberta Grant Gazette is $49 per month or $499 per year. Email me at davidk@albertabusinessgrants.ca if you have any questions or take plunge by clicking the image. You’ll love it!
