A number of grant deadlines, grant events, and business awards are below.

1. Agriculture

Value-Added Program: support growth of Alberta’s value-added food processors and bio-industrial processors. Up to $250,000 per fiscal year. Deadline: May 24, 2022.

On-Farm Value-added Program: focused on the growth of  producers adding value to their commodity products. Receive up to $250,000 per fiscal year. Deadline: May 24, 2022.

Output-Based Pricing System Proceeds Fund: Decarbonization Incentive Program – a merit-based program with up to maximum of $10 million funding available.

Agriculture and Food Sustainability Assurance Initiatives Program: up to $250,000 grants available.

2. Arts and Culture

The Literary Publishing Projects component of Supporting Artistic Practice funds up to $30 000. Deadline: May 4, 2022.

Alberta’s government is now accepting grant applications for Alberta Culture Days 2022. Deadline: May 12, 2022.

Equity and Access in the Arts: A combined total of up to $500,000 will be allocated to the three Streams in this program. Deadline: June 1, 2022.

Organization Recovery Fund: The total funding available is $500,000. Applications open in May 9 until June 13, 2022.\

Summer School Project Funding: up to 40% of eligible expenses will be covered. Deadline: July 15, 2022.

3. COVID

The Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP) has been extended to May 7, 2022.

U.S. Mission to Canada Funding Opportunities: Combatting COVID-19 Grant Program with up to $100,00 grant available. Deadline: July 6, 2022.

The Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) is a $500-million national program to support the tourism sector in Canada.

The Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) is a two-year, $200-million national fund to help major Canadian festivals survive and adapt to the pandemic.

Restrictions Exemption Program – Safety training: provide $1 million in grant funding to support Alberta workers.

Restrictions Exemption Program Implementation Grant: provides $2,000 for eligible small- and medium-sized organizations.

Work-Sharing Program: special measures for employers affected by the downturn in business related to COVID-19 effective March 15, 2020 to September 24, 2022.

COVID-19 wage and hiring support for businesses: enable you to re-hire workers, help prevent further job losses, and ease your business back into normal operations.

COVID-19 rent and property expense support for businesses: you may be eligible for a subsidy to cover part of your commercial rent or property expenses.

Indigenous Community Business Fund: access funding to support their community-owned businesses whose revenues have been affected by COVID-19.

NSERC Alliance COVID-19 grants: up to $50,000 for one-year projects is being made available immediately.

The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.

Stay tuned to the third intake of the Alberta Jobs Now program: up to $370 million funding assistance.

4. Employment | Varies

Canada-Alberta Job Grant: Individual employers will have a cap of $300,000 for the amount of grant funding they can receive per fiscal year. Online portal is now open.

Eco Canada’s employment programs are now open.  To date, over $90M in wage and training subsidies were distributed.

The 2021-22 Campus Alberta Small Business Engagement (CASBE) program is now open for new applications. maximum of $150,000 in available funding from Alberta Innovates.

Career Starter provides bio-economy employers with 50% of a youth’s salary to a maximum of $20,000 in wage subsidies.

Environmental Employability Pathways: Funding Up to 100% of a Salary Up to a Maximum of $15,000.

5. Environment/CleanTech

ERA committed $12 million through its new Small Producers Energy Efficiency Deployment (SPEED) stream. Deadline: May 9, 2022.

Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) is committing $50 million through its new Circular Economy Challenge to accelerate Alberta’s transition towards a low-emissions economy. Deadline: May 26, 2022.

Oil Spill Response Challenge you could be awarded up to $1.3M with an additional of  $2M to continue to commercialise your technology. Deadline: June 1, 2022.

The $2.75 billion Zero Emission Transit Fund is now accepting applications under the Planning and Capital streams.

Digital Innovation in Clean Energy (DICE): Project funding can be up to $350,000.

6. Export

Canada – Israel 2022-23 collaborative industrial research and development call for proposals. Registration Deadline:  May 6, 2022.

CanExport SMEs: access up to $50,000 in funding to assist with international market development activities.

Export Readiness – Micro Vouchers: with up to $20,000 funding to build and develop a strategic approach for expansion globally. Set to end on May 1, 2023 or when all funds are disbursed.

CanExport Innovation is now accepting applications for projects starting next fiscal year (2022-23). Up to $75,000 in funding available.

7. Indigenous

The CFEP Large Funding stream is for projects requesting over $125,001 and up to $1 million. annual intake of June 15.

Housing Supply Challenge: Round 3 – Northern Access– share a pool of up to $80M to implement your solution. Deadline. June 23, 2022.

Original Peoples Investment Program: apply up to  $25,000 with $650,000 total funding available. Date: Applications open September 2022.

Climate Resilience Capacity Building Program: up to $80,000 funding per project available. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

Canada Community Revitalization Fund: with a national investment of $500 million over two years. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

The Indigenous Housing Capital Program (IHCP): increases the supply of affordable housing units for Indigenous peoples. Apply now!

8. Municipalities

Tourism Investment Program: up to $100,000 fund to enhance and grow visitor products and experiences. Deadline: May 13, 2022.

Municipal Energy Manager (MEM) Program: receive up to 80 percent of an energy manager’s salary, or up to $80,000, for a one-year term. Express your interest now!

Housing Supply Challenge: Round 3 – Northern Access– share a pool of up to $80M to implement your solution. Deadline. June 23, 2022.

Climate Resilience Capacity Building Program: up to $80,000 funding per project available. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

Electric Vehicle Charging Program: provide rebates for municipalities up to $150,000.

Canada Community Revitalization Fund provides support to build and improve community infrastructure projects with up to $750,000 funding per project available. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

9. Non-Profit

Tourism Investment Program: up to $100,000 fund to enhance and grow visitor products and experiences. Deadline: May 13, 2022.

The Community Initiatives Program (CIP), Project-Based grant stream provides assistance to enhance and enrich communities throughout Alberta by . Next Deadline: May 15, 2022.

The CFEP Large Funding stream is for projects requesting over $125,001 and up to $1 million. annual intake of June 15.

Donation Fund Program matching campaign maximum matching funding per eligible organization is $10,000. open for donations made between April 1 and August 30, 2022.

10. Post Secondary | Varies

John R. Evans Leaders Fund: Universities can submit proposals requesting up to $800,000 from the CFI. Next deadline: June 15, 2022.

Alliance International Quantum grants: Up to $25,000 grants for one year. Deadline: June 15, 2022.

Alliance Consortia Quantum grants: supporting coordinated quantum research and innovation with $500,000 to $1 million funding per year. Deadline: October 21, 2022.

11. Technology | Varies

Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) competitive projects: up to $1.2M in phased development funding to propel technology forward. Learn more the featured opportunities. Deadline: May 31, 2022.

The Government of Canada announced the $4 billion Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) to help get your business online, give your e-commerce presence a boost or help digitalize your business’s operations. Apply now!

Oil Spill Response Challenge: $2 million Grand Prize will be given to the team with the best demonstrated technology. Deadline: June 1, 2022.

Zayed Sustainability Prize: apply to the US$3 million Prize with each winner in the Health, Food, Energy, and Water categories eligible to receive USD 600,000. Deadline: July 6, 2022.

Prairies Economic Development Canada has announced an investment of $3 million to help Alberta’s small businesses go digital through Business Link’s Digital Economy Program. Stay tuned for the next round.

Business Scale-up and Productivity (BSP) in the Prairie provinces: Up to 50% of eligible project costs funding available. The next intake period will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned.

The Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF): Request a minimum SIF contribution of $10 million for a proposal with total costs of at least $20 million.

2022 Minister’s Seniors Service Award: recognizes the dedicated and energetic efforts of Albertans who serve seniors. Deadline: May 2, 2022.

Nominations are now open for Greenhouse Canada’s Top 4 Under 40 awards. Deadline:  May 13, 2022.

Walter F. Snyder Award. Deadline: May 14, 2022.

Canada’s Top Growing Companies. Deadline: May 31, 2022.

Nominations are now open for the 2022 Alberta Heritage Awards. Deadline: June 1, 2022.

Canadian HR Awards. Deadline: Nominations will open on April 11, 2022 until June 3, 2022.

Order of Canada. Deadline: July 1, 2022.

Catalyst Award for Top New Hire: recognizes the impacts and achievements of young employees who are wage subsidy recipients in Canada’s burgeoning bio-economy.

The Alberta Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition Program honours the everyday heroes who are helping to make life better in communities.

Order of the Bighorn: Nominate a youth or adult whose outstanding volunteer efforts advance conservation in Alberta.

14. Government Update

A path forward to support Alberta’s workforce.

Alberta’s total assistance to Ukraine currently exceeds $13 million, with new funding of more than $2 million to support.

102 Alberta students are receiving a total of $255,000 through the Persons Case Scholarship.

The Utility Commodity Rebate Act would replace the Natural Gas Price Protection Act with new enabling legislation for both electricity and natural gas rebates.

In partnership with the federal government, Alberta has awarded two grants totaling $900,000 to help grow the province’s hemp industry.

CFI support for Canadian research helps retain top talent, train students, create jobs and spark innovation.

Six teams recognized and awarded Governor Genera’s Innovation Awards for their inspirational Canadian innovations.

New support will strengthen Alberta’s position as a leader in artificial intelligence and grow its technology and innovation talent pool.

Alberta’s government is investing $4.5 million to upgrade or build 84 public-use facilities in communities across the province.

The Alberta government will invest $50 million to create Clean Hydrogen Centre of Excellence.

Alberta’s recommendations on a federal tax relief measure will promote economic growth and job creation.
