A number of grant deadlines, grant events, and business awards are below.

1. Agriculture

Application for Green Jobs in Natural Resources is now open for intake for 2022-23.

The Agri-Food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program (ABIP): provides up to $500,000 to boost the value of agriculture and forestry commodities, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The Agri-Food Innovation program helps accelerate the research and innovation pathway through investment in data and digital solutions. Check here for more information.

Food innovation challenge: up to 50% eligible project costs will be provided. Letters of intent due: October 11th, 2022; Full proposals due: December 16th, 2022.

Chronic Wasting Disease Research Program. Funding of up to $1 million CAD is available. Full Proposals are due on September 23, 2022.

AgriAssurance: Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Component: up to $100,000 funding. Deadline: September 30, 2022, or until funding has been fully committed.

Genome Canada is launching a new Climate Action Genomics Initiative with approximately $30 million available funding. Deadlines: LOI- Sept. 2022; Application – Jan. 2023.

AgriCommunication Program: Applicants may apply for funding up to 70% of total eligible costs. Application is ongoing until ongoing basis until September 30, 2023.

The 2022 Canadian Agri-Food Automation and Intelligence Network (CAAIN) Competition for the Smart Farms Program: up to $5 Million funding available. Application is a continuous intake.

The Water Program directly supports the enhancement of agricultural water management with up to $25,000 funding.

The Matching Investment Fund (MIF) provides non-repayable contributions for product development projects on a matching investment basis. Learn more.

2. Arts and Culture

Film and Video Individual Project Funding: provides up to $15,000 to support the development of individual Alberta artists, arts administrators, or an ensemble of artists. Deadline: September 1, 2022.

Dance Individual Project Funding: This opportunity awards up to $15,000 for a specific dance project. Deadline: September 1, 2022.

Canada History Fund supports the production of learning materials, the organization of learning activities and the creation or maintenance of networks. Deadline: September 15, 2022.

The Public Outreach component of Arts Across Canada provides up to $100, 000 Canadian organizations that contribute to the public appreciation and enjoyment of the arts. Deadline: September 28, 2022.

Original Peoples Investment Program: Total funding available for this program is $650,000. Application period: September 5 to October 17, 2022.

Media Arts Equipment Acquisition Fund: valued up to $30, 000 grant. Deadline: November 16, 2022.

Bob Etherington Heritage Conservation Fund: Apply for funding to support attendance or delivery of training. Deadline: first working day of October.

Short-Term Compensation Fund for Canadian Audiovisual Productions (STCF): extended until March 31, 2023 and is budgeted at up to $150 million dollars.

Check out the Museums Assistance Program (MAP) programs and receive funding in the preservation and presentation of heritage collections. Deadline varies.

3. COVID

Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: COVID-19 Resilience stream: The maximum size of projects under the stream is set at $10M total eligible costs.

The Jobs and Growth Fund provides funding to businesses and organizations to help create jobs and position local economies for long-term growth. Learn more.

The Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) is a $500-million national program to support the tourism sector in Canada.

Work-Sharing Program: special measures for employers affected by the downturn in business related to COVID-19 effective March 15, 2020 to September 24, 2022.

Indigenous Community Business Fund: access funding to support their community-owned businesses whose revenues have been affected by COVID-19.

The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.

The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) is a national program that will provide $250 million over three years to help the Canadian aerospace sector.

Arts Presentation Fund for COVID Recovery: the City of Edmonton allocated funds for artists to present and perform their work. Application is still ongoing.

The Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) is a two-year, $200-million national fund to help major Canadian festivals survive and adapt to the pandemic.

Short-Term Compensation Fund for Canadian Audiovisual Productions (STCF): extended until March 31, 2023 and is budgeted at up to $150 million dollars.

4. Employment | Varies

Partner with MCG Careers and receive wage subsidy while you train participants and provide a paid work experience opportunity. Learn more.

Engaging youth leaders to encourage organizations to apply for funding under the Youth Innovation Component of the Enabling Accessibility Fund. Deadline: October 17, 2022.

The Youth Employment Program offers financial assistance to offset the cost of hiring young talent. Application is ongoing.

The Science Horizons Youth Internship Program is now open for 2022-23 intake. Find here how to apply.

Self-employment Program offers eligible Albertans who are looking to develop and start a new business.

Canada-Alberta Job Grant: provides up to 100% of training costs to eligible employers. Learn more.

Check here the funding programs under Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) and receive funding.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Digital Subsidy: provides up to $7,000 wage subsidy.

TECHNATION’s Career Ready program supports businesses by financing their decision to hire a student for a work-term placement. Applications is on a rolling basis.

Skilled Newcomer Internship for the Bio-economy program: covers up to a maximum of $20,000 for bio-economy employers.

5. Environment/CleanTech

Advancing Hydrogen — Competition One: New hydrogen projects will share $20 million in funding to accelerate clean energy development in Alberta. Intake proposal deadline: September 6, 2022.

Accelerating CCS Technologies (ACT): total funds available for this global funding program is $19 million. Deadline: September 12, 2022.

UPDATE! Toward net-zero homes and communities program: Request for proposals is extended to September 21, 2022. Learn more.

Energy Innovation Program – Carbon capture, utilization and storage RD&D Call: up to $50 million in support for FEED studies for large-scale CCUS facilities. Deadline to submit Expression of Interest: October 3, 2022.

Clean Energy for Rural and Remote Communities Program: An additional $300 million is available until 2027 for your clean energy projects.

Strategic Partnerships Initiative: An additional $300 million is available until 2027 for clean energy projects in Indigenous, rural and remote communities across Canada.

Alternative Response Measures Participant Funding Program – Pipelines: provides funding to address potential oil spills across Canada’s oil supply chain.

Infrastructure Canada is now accepting applications for both the planning and capital funding streams of the Zero Emission Transit Fund. Receive up to.80% of eligible project costs.

Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund (NSCSF) is a $631 million, ten-year fund meant to reduce 2-4 megatons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions annually. Learn more.

6. Export

Join the Smart Cities- CTA with the Consulate General of Canada in New York. Deadline: September 28, 2022.

The CTA Digital Silicon Valley Fall 2022 application is now open until September 28, 2022. Apply now and have the opportunity to access the unique resources of the Silicon Valley.

Scale your AutoTech company in Germany and benefit your business from exclusive connections to the leading technology scouts. Deadline: September 28, 2022.

Alberta Export Expansion Program: up to $25,000 funding available. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply now!

CanExport Community Investments:  provides non-repayable contributions up to $500,000. New applications for the 2023 call for proposal starts in September – October 2022.

Export Readiness – Micro Vouchers: with up to $20,000 funding. Set to end on May 1, 2023 or when all funds are disbursed.

7. Indigenous

Aboriginal Business Investment Fund (ABIF): provides up to $500,000 in funding for ventures that demonstrate social and economic benefits for their communities. Deadline: September 30, 2022.

FIRE Grant program (Funding Indigenous Resurgence in Edmonton) provides funding up to $10,000 to support projects that help tell important stories about your community. Deadline: October 3, 2022.

First Nations Environmental Contaminants Program: supports in identifying, investigating and characterizing the impact of exposure to environmental hazards.  Deadline: October 21, 2022.

The Rent Supplement Program provides a subsidy to help make rental accommodation more affordable for individuals and families. Application is a first come, first served. Apply now!

Indigenous Employment Training Partnerships provides grant funding to deliver group-training projects designed in partnership with employers and other partners.

The Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI) provides financial support to Indigenous-led economic development projects in Canada’s forest sector. Check here.

The Investment Readiness Program (IRP) is a $50 million program over 2 years starting in fiscal year 2021 to 2022, designed to help advance social innovation and social finance (SI/SF) in Canada. Learn more.

8. Municipalities

Revitalization Extensive Project Fund (REPF): offers funding up to $250,000. Next intake: September 15 to October 13.

Funding is available for municipalities to host Alberta Day events for their communities on September 3. Funding up to $10,000.

Cancer Research for Screening and Prevention Program Fund: up to $1 million time-limited grant. Deadline: October 31, 2022.

The Water for Life Program provides cost-shared funding. Open until November 30, 2022, for funding approval in 2023.

Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership (AMWWP): receive funding up to 75% of project costs. Deadline: November 30, 2022, for funding approval in 2023.

The Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) provides funding to municipalities under 4 funding streams. Open until November 30 for funding in the following year.

Local Municipal Initiatives: apply for funding to support your local transportation infrastructure projects. Deadline: November 30, 2022.

Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Program (iMHZEV): incentives of up to $200,000. Learn more.

9. Non-Profit

WES Ecosystem Fund – Second Call:  $40 million is allocated to support projects that will provide business supports for women entrepreneurs. Deadline: September 26, 2022.

Cancer Research for Screening and Prevention Program Fund: up to $1 million time-limited grant. Deadline: October 31, 2022.

Alberta crime prevention grant: a grant to help prevent crime and keep your community safe with up to $150,000 funding available.

Alberta Security Infrastructure Program Grant: provides up to $25,000 grant to fund security assessments, related training, equipment, immediate response and security infrastructure improvements.

Outreach Initiative grants and contributions program: provides grant funding for a variety of science- or innovation-based initiatives or projects.

Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program: funding of up to $150,000 annually. The next multi-year funding cycle intake is anticipated for the fall of 2022.

City of Calgary’s Housing Incentive Program (HIP): provides up to $50, 000 to encourage the building of affordable housing units and helps stimulate the economy. Application is ongoing.

Applications are now open for $50 million in funding in 2022-23 for non-profit child care spaces. Check here.

10. Post Secondary | Varies

Alliance Missions – Anthropogenic greenhouse gas research: provide support up to $500,000.. The deadline to submit a letter of intent is September 15, 2022, and to submit a full application is November 8, 2022.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships are valued at $70,000 per year (taxable) for two years. Deadline: September 21, 2022.

SSHRC and Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) have launched this Knowledge Synthesis Grants competition to mobilize social sciences and humanities research. Deadline: September 1, 2022.

Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program: maximum of $1.65M support over six years. Deadline: September 22, 2022.

Gender-Based Violence Research Initiative: WAGE will invest up to $2,500,000 and SSHRC up to $1,000,000 to co-fund research projects that address Gender-based violence. Deadline: October 6, 2022.

Alliance Consortia Quantum grants: NSERC will provide support for 100% of the eligible costs of research through this program. Deadline: October 21, 2022.

Cancer Research for Screening and Prevention Program Fund: up to $1 million time-limited grant. Deadline: October 31, 2022.

Major Innovation Fund: The available allocation to this competition is up to $30M over 4 years. Applications accepted until November 15, 2022.

NSERC Alliance – Alberta Innovates Advance Program: funding up to $150,000 per year and can be for up to two years in duration. Application is ongoing.

Gain instant access to hundreds of new internships and exciting research projects through Mitacs. A stipend starting at $10,000 per four-month period is available.

11. Technology | Varies

Canadian Food Innovation Network’s Innovation Booster: provides funding up to $100,000 to advance your food innovation and research outcomes. Next intake deadline: September 12, 2022.

Apply for ACT4 Call: Sept. 12, 2022 deadline.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is seeking a technology, procedure or technique that provides the means to detect concussions. Deadline: September 12, 2022.

NATO Innovation Challenge: Data Management and Security in the context of reconstruction efforts is now open! Deadline: September 19, 2022.

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is seeking a solution that will prevent collisions by proximity sensing in order to simplify the safety of autonomous operations of space manipulators. Deadline: October 14, 2022.

Visual AI for space robotics obstacle detection: this challenge seeks to explore the feasibility of an AI-based vision system. Deadline: October 20, 2022.

Natural Resources Canada ISO 50001 program for commercial and institutional buildings will open on September 19, 2022. Up to $200,000 maximum funding available. Deadline: October 21, 2022.

Accelerating Innovations into CarE (AICE) – Validate Program: Alberta Innovates will contribute up to $300,000 CAD to support approved projects. Next Invited Full Application Cut-off Dates: November 10, 2022.

Business Scale-up and Productivity (BSP) in the Prairie provinces: provides up to $10million to any tech organization that will contribute in building a stronger Prairies economy. Application is ongoing.

NSERC Alliance – Alberta Innovates Advance Program: Individual proposals can request up to $150,000 per year and can be for up to two years in duration.

The Carbon Capture and Utilization program supports Alberta SMEs with technologies that convert carbon dioxide into useful products with significant commercial value. Learn more.
