The Alberta Indigenous Climate Capacity Program (AICCP) is grant program that builds technical and leadership capacity within Indigenous communities and organizations in order to:

o      Increase climate leadership knowledge within Indigenous communities and organizations

o      Prepare Indigenous communities for green energy economic development opportunities by increasing awareness of climate leadership and the low-carbon economy

o      Increase awareness of how local actions can be taken which will decrease community and organization greenhouse gas emissions


o      First Nation communities, Metis Nation of Alberta, Metis Settlements, AseniwucheWinewak Nation, Indigenous organizations including Friendship Centres, Tribal Councils and Treaty Organizations

o      Applicants must be in compliance with the terms and conditions of any previous Alberta Indigenous Relations funding

o      Applicants must be located in the Province of Alberta

Eligible Projects:

o      Climate Leadership Coordinators (Treaty Organizations, Tribal Councils, Metis Nation of Alberta, Metis Settlement General Council)

o      Indigenous climate leadership training sessions

o      Elder and youth climate awareness programs

o      Train-the-trainer sessions intended to increase local capacity in climate leadership program delivery

Eligible Expenses:

o      Salary or contract costs associated with the operation of the project, including Climate Leadership Coordinators and administrative support

o      Travel expenses for project participants or personnel

o      Project supplies and training materials

o      Training enrollment fee

Deadline: The call for submissions will open June 29, 2017 and will remain open for submission until program funding is exhausted.
