Every politician wants to help grow and diversify our economy.

Grants are easy for any politician.
Want to build a recreation centre? Grant
Want to create a new technology? Grant
Looking to export? Grant, grant, grant
Hire someone with a disability, hire someone unemployed, train an existing employee, start a business, create an event, produce art, grow food, support the military, invest in tourism, GRANT, GRANT, GRANT.
I sound like a duck: grant, grant, grant.
Grants are EVERYWHERE.
Politicians understand grants because they are straightforward.
Have you ever heard the saying, “all politicians are the same!”
SURE TRUMP CHALLENGES THAT STATEMENT, BUT HERE IS WHAT I’VE LEARNED ABOUT GRANTS. AND IT’S REMARKABLE. I’VE LEARNED IN POLITICS THAT EVERY POLITICIAN – REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL AFFILIATION – LOVES GRANTS.
Oh yes they do.
Don’t believe me? Watch as election times near. It doesn’t matter whether Tory, Liberal, or NDP; they call the photographer, get the big cardboard cheque, brush their teeth, and smile.
Happens all the time.
GRANTS
Now here is the weird part: politicians don’t like the word “grant.”
It’s true.
The word “grant” doesn’t have a nice political ring to it, so they use words like “fund, initiative, program, or agency.” Just about any word you can think of EXCEPT grants.
THE GRANT BUSINESS
By 2012 I wanted to start a business. I had NO IDEA what to do.
All I could do is write clearly and research.
As the finance researcher for the Opposition, I learned where many of the grants were. And I had learned what politicians were looking for in their grant applications.
HINT: THE GRANT APPLICATION ANSWERS SHOULD NOT BE WHAT YOU WANT; THEY SHOULD BE WHAT THE POLITICIANS WANT. MAKE YOUR APPLICATION APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT MANDATE, AND YOU’LL START TO WIN GRANTS LIKE A PRO.
When I went out looking for business, I was offering all types of services, including grant writing.
I started writing grants and won eight in a row. Please don’t take this as bragging, I’m not. I’m just trying to show you how to win these things.
At that point I discovered, “I think I can make a business out of just grants.”
GRANT CATAGORIES
So in November, 2015, I started building my own grant database exclusively for Alberta entrepreneurs.
Two problems quickly emerged.
1.The grants were everywhere.
2. They were all in different formats. A complete mess.
No successful entrepreneur would have the time to go through all these grants. So over time as we grew our client base, we found more and more grants. Here is a list of the main categories for grants:

Can you believe that? I can barely believe that, but it’s true.
MY WHY
Although I never became the politician, I found a niche that helps politicians help business owners.
I’m still working on my business “why,” but it has something to do with bridging “business and government.” They are two different worlds.
Governments want to give businesses grants, but they make it complicated. Entrepreneurs want the grants, but they lack time. That’s where Alberta Business Grants comes in.
So we made the process easy:
Small grant package < $100,000 for $1,500
Medium grant package < $999,000 for $2,500
Large grant package > 1 million for $3,500
Imagine if in a 30-minute consultation and 1-hour grant presentation you could identify every grant for your business. It’s that simple.
But don’t wait too long. Grants have deadlines and run out of money.
