Given we are close to Christmas, I want to give an Alberta government grant gift to all the hard-working consultants out there.
As readers of my blog know, consulting is the absolute worst industry for being a grant recipient.

So why am I writing a blog about it?
Because consultants play a significant role in grant eligible expenses.
Let me explain.
When a technology company wins an export grant to enter a new market, the technology company is delighted.
Then the technology company asks this question: “what next?”
We immediately look at the eligible expenses.
AN ELIGIBLE EXPENSE IS AN EXPENDITURE THE GOVERNMENT WILL REIMBURSE YOU MONEY, USUALLY 50% BUT CAN BE STACKED WITH OTHER GRANTS UP TO 75%.
Every grant has an eligible expense. EVERY GRANT.

THE MYSTERY
The million-dollar question becomes: who won the grants?
If you can find out who won the grant, everyone can benefit.
Remember grants are won “before” they spend the money, so if you could find out quickly, you could call the company and say, “Congratulations. How can I be of service?”
ASIDE: if you’re not on my mailing list (see link above), you should get on it. I plan on using my database for searching eligible vendors…I mean consultants.
Construction companies can discover who won the construction grants.
Market researchers can figure out who won the export grants.
Marketing companies can figure out who has a bunch of money to spend on marketing tools.
Lawyers can speak to people who won grants and grow their business.
The list goes on.
For the longest time I couldn’t figure out where the list was located.
Even some grant staff couldn’t tell me.
UNTIL NOW.
I’ve started speaking with grant agency staff, and I am learning more and more.
All this information I plan to share with you so that you CAN GROW YOUR BUSINESS!
