1. Agriculture

Public Agriculture Literacy supports initiatives that build industry communication capacity to increase public and consumers’ awareness and understanding of agriculture and the food production system. Link

The Farm Debt Mediation Service offers financial counselling and mediation services to farmers who are having difficulties meeting their financial obligations. It is a free and voluntary service for both producers and for creditor(s). Link

2. Arts and Culture

Community Project Grants provide assistance up to 75 percent of an applicant’s eligible expenses, to a maximum of $25,000, for non-profit organizations to undertake projects that preserve, research, document, interpret, celebrate, and raise awareness of the history and heritage of Edmonton. Link

The Museums Assistance Program (MAP) – COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Heritage Organizations offers financial assistance to organizations, enabling them to continue caring for their heritage collections under these exceptional circumstances to ensure accessibility to Canadians. Link

Change Capital Project Grants provide funding to heritage organizations (up to $25,000, with no matching requirement) to undertake projects that develop internal capacity and new strategies, building resilience within the heritage sector. Link

3. Employment | Varies

The Career Starter Program aims to facilitate the transition of barriered youth into the labor market and enhance their understanding of the sector’s needs through recent and practical work experience. Link

Life Sciences Fellowship is a full-time, two-year program that offers experiential learning in research and development (R&D) commercialization/startup creation for life sciences entrepreneurs. Deadline: September 15, 2020. Link

4. Environment/CleanTech

The Edmonton Launch program is a 6-week mentoring and support program for cleantech entrepreneurs, powered by two top accelerators: Foresight and TEC Edmonton. It starts on September 18. Link

Companies headquartered in Canada can apply for funding of up to 50%, to a maximum of $10,000, towards the hiring of a third-party to perform a fleet energy assessment through the Green Freight Assessment program. This program has an ongoing deadline. Link

5. Export

EUREKA is an international network for market-driven industrial R&D that includes over 40 economies from the EU, Europe, Israel, South Korea, and now Canada. This opportunity has an ongoing deadline. Link

The Canadian Technology Accelerator initiative helps Canadian companies with an existing technology, product, or service explore opportunities in foreign markets. This program has an ongoing deadline. Link

6. Indigenous

The Indigenous Housing Capital Program aims to increase the supply of affordable housing units for Indigenous peoples in need through construction (including additions/extensions), purchase, and repurpose. The deadline for this program is September 30, 2020. Link

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to pre-announce the launch of the Indigenous Peoples and COVID-19 Knowledge Synthesis, Evaluation, and Assessment Grants Rapid Research Funding Opportunity. The deadline for this opportunity is December 2020. Link

7. Municipalities

Eligible municipalities can apply for funding to improve and expand existing public transit systems through the Public Transit Infrastructure program. The deadline for this program is ongoing. Link

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is an 80/20 funding partnership between the Government of Alberta and participating municipalities or Metis Settlements. Municipalities and Metis Settlements can apply for a funding partnership to support preventive social service programs in communities. The deadline for this program is ongoing. Link

8. Non-Profit

Settlement, Integration and Language Projects grants help fund projects up to $300,000 that assist newcomers in finding jobs by providing urgently needed labor market attachment training. These training opportunities will help newcomers gain skills and abilities to secure good jobs. The deadline for this program is October 1, 2020. Link

The Community Improvement Grant provides opportunities for community groups to make enhancements within the City of Grande Prairie. Grants will support residents in working together to provide an overall benefit to the community. The deadline for this program is October 1, 2020. Link

9. Post Secondary | Varies

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program offers funding to exceptional postdoctoral applicants who will make positive contributions to Canada’s economic, social, and research-based growth. The fellowship is valued at $70,000 per year (taxable), and the deadline for applications is October 1, 2020. Link

The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral (CGS D) program, worth $35,000 per year, is a federal scholarship program awarded through national competitions by granting agencies: CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC. The deadline for applications is October 17, 2020. Link

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) program assists Canadian institutions in attracting highly qualified doctoral students. The scholarship is valued at $50,000 per year for three years during doctoral studies. The deadline for applications is November 3, 2020. Link

10. Technology | Varies

Eurostars is currently accepting applications for innovative R&D-performing SME projects with a deadline of September 3, 2020. Link

The Alberta LEANSTACK Accelerator Program, presented by Alberta Innovates, is a four-month program designed to help founder teams systematically find product/market fit to scale their business. The deadline for applications is September 14, 2020. Link

Business Scale-up and Productivity supports high-growth businesses that are scaling up and producing innovative goods, services, or technologies. It offers interest-free repayable funding to incorporated businesses, with deadlines on October 14, 2020, and February 16, 2021. Link

DEC (Digital Economic Connector) connects investors with technology developers and entrepreneurs to match private investors and SME investment funds with high-potential business plans pre-screened by local partners. This opportunity is ongoing. Link
