Alberta Community Restorative Justice Grants

Description

Alberta Community Restorative Justice grants are available to non-profit organizations that provide restorative justice services and referrals to communities.

Eligible Applicants

Applicants must be:

  • located in Alberta
  • one of the following:
    • a registered non-profit organization
    • a registered charity in good standing
    • a community-based coalition or network group with an incorporated fiscal agent
    • an Indigenous community, including band and tribal councils
    • a youth justice committee applying to fund activities not currently funded by the ministry

Eligible Expenses

Grants will be limited to:

  • up to $50,000 per program for one year (2022-23)
  • established or ongoing programs
  • new programs in communities with a prior history of
    • restorative justice programs or
    • restorative practice in the justice system

Not all applications will be funded. Others might be recommended for a lesser amount.

The grant may be used to finance the direct operation of a program. Grant uses include:

  • wages
  • program administration
  • training
  • associated operational costs
