Artist Development program (AD) | FACTOR

Description

This program is intended to provide support towards the professionalization and integration of early career artists into the music industry. Artists with an established track record and ongoing market momentum should review the Juried Sound Recording: Album or Juried Sound Recording: Single/EP programs.

The Artist Development program (AD) offers 75% of eligible expenses up to a maximum of $5,000 towards a year of artist development activities including sound recording, touring, showcasing, video content production, and marketing.

Eligible Applicants

This program is intended to provide development support to emerging artists. Artists who have commercially released music no more than 3 years prior to the application deadline are eligible to apply. One must have released a minimum of one track commercially.

Eligible Expenses

  • Sound recording: rehearsal space and equipment rentals, studio time, third-party personnel costs,mixing, mastering, artwork, photography, design;
  • Touring and showcasing: airfare, vehicle rental, gas, hotel rooms, registration fees, third-party personnel costs, marketing, advertising;
  • Video content creation: third-party production costs for music videos, lyric videos, and promotional content; and
  • Marketing: publicists, advertising, digital marketing, social media, website development

Deadline Date

The FACTOR Artist Development program operates on a periodic, cyclical basis. The application deadline for the 2025-2026 fiscal year was March 6, 2025, and has now passed. The deadline for the upcoming 2026-2027 fiscal year is currently to be announced.
