High-ranking project loans and grants: These qualify for a low-interest loan of up to $10 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.

Description

We fund capital projects for initiatives that address specific waste stream challenges (e.g., biosolids, specific types of construction, renovation & demolition (CRD) waste, household hazardous waste, textiles, furniture, diapers, polystyrene, plastics, other substances). This funding helps Canadian cities and communities of all sizes improve their waste stream management.

Eligible Applicants

All Canadian municipal governments; Municipal partners applying in partnership with a municipal government.

Eligible Expenses

Your capital project must address a particular type of item (e.g., biosolids, specific types of construction, renovation & demolition (CRD) waste, household hazardous waste, textiles, furniture, diapers, polystyrene, plastics, other substances), improve its waste stream diversion rate by weight or volume and offer other environmental benefits. It may involve new builds or retrofits.

Examples of what you might implement:

  • A facility to treat or process a challenging waste stream
  • Collection programs, waste stream sorting mechanisms, or value-added processing that diverts the waste stream from landfill
  • Partnerships with the private sector to divert and/or process the waste stream

Deadline Date

  This funding has a two-stage application process with the following deadlines: Initial Review Form: Complete and submit year-round. Potential applicants may submit initial review forms at any time. Application forms will be provided to eligible recipients.
