The 2017 Emerging Immigrant and Refugee Community (EIRC) Grant Program aligns with the City’s business plan by supporting immigrant and refugee communities who are new to Edmonton and in the process of settling and integrating. EIRC Grants provide assistance to:
- Rent space
- Host community events
- Strengthen cultural identity and pride
- Partner and collaborate with other community not-for-profit organizations to address gaps in existing programs and services
Community Event Grants assist emerging immigrant and refugee community organizations to gather their community members to celebrate significant events.
Eligible Applicants
- Be an Edmonton-based immigrant or refugee community organization facing barriers to settlement and/or integration
- Be registered as a non-profit organization for at least six months
- Not have overdue reports from previous grants received from the City of Edmonton
Event must:
- Happen within the city of Edmonton
- Use money raised at the event for programs and services in Edmonton
Ineligible Events:
- Fundraisers for projects outside of Edmonton
- Events of a political or religious nature
- Weddings/funerals/events of a personal nature
Eligible Expenses
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages (including disposable dishes and cutlery)
- Audiovisual equipment rental
- Space rental
- Insurance
Deadline Date
Available for events that happened in 2019 if an application is submitted within 90 days of the event.Contact
