Continuous Intake: $100,000 to $3 million; Scheduled Intake: $3 million to $25 millionDescription
The Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program aims to build more community buildings and improve existing ones – in particular in areas with populations experiencing higher needs – while also making the buildings more energy efficient, lower carbon, more resilient, and higher performing. This five-year $1.5 billion program will support green and accessible retrofits, repairs or upgrades of existing public community buildings and the construction of new publicly-accessible community buildings that serve high-needs, underserved communities across Canada.
Eligible Applicants
Applications for small and medium retrofits are accepted on a rolling intake basis. Open to the following:
- All provincial, territorial and municipal governments
- Public sector body
- Federally or provincially incorporated not-for-profit organizations and registered charities
- Indigenous governing bodies
- Indigenous not-for-profit organizations
Large retrofits and new builds are not currently open for applications.
Eligible Expenses
Continuous Intake:
Applicants with small and medium retrofit projects to existing community buildings ranging in total eligible cost from $100,000 to $3 million will be accepted on a continuous basis and funded on a rolling intake basis.
Scheduled Intake:
Applicants with large retrofit projects to existing community buildings or new community building projects with total eligible costs ranging from $3 million to $25 million will be accepted through a competitive intake process. The deadline for receipt of applications for the scheduled intake stream is July 6, 2021, 23:59 PDT.
