The Infrastructure Operating Fund (IOF) helps cover a portion of the operating and maintenance costs of CFI-funded research infrastructure to ensure its optimal use. It is the institution’s responsibility to secure the remaining portion from other sources.
Universities, colleges and research hospitals and Non-profit research institutions
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Infrastructure Operating Fund (IOF) is allocated directly to eligible institutions to help cover the operating and maintenance costs of CFI-funded research infrastructure. Individual researchers do not apply directly to the CFI for this fund. Instead, institutions establish their own internal processes and deadlines for distributing IOF funds to eligible projects. Applicants should contact their institution's research office or relevant department for specific application procedures and deadlines.
