The goal of the Land and Biodiversity program is to ensure that natural resource development operations and practices are sustainable. The program is positioned to support achievement of both Alberta Innovates’ and ARIF Targets for 2030:
- That the rate of land reclamation is equal to or better than the rate of land disturbance; and
- That biodiversity in Alberta is maintained or enhanced.
- The Land and Biodiversity program includes subprograms related to Environmental Monitoring, Oil Sands Tailings remediation and restoration, climate adaptation and a new initiative on abandoned well reclamation.
Eligible Applicants
This program is open to academic researchers, innovators, small and medium sized enterprises, large companies and consortia who are seeking funding, expertise and/or sector leadership to advance knowledge (for best practices and public policy) and technology (for commercialization and industrial use).
