$25 million two-phase challengeDescription
The Low Emission Fuels and Products Competition is a $25 million two-phase challenge to accelerate the development of innovations that reduce the carbon intensity of Canada’s oil and gas industry. This includes transportation fuels and other hydrocarbon-derived products. It is one of three competitions hosted by the Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN) with support from Canada’s Innovation, Science and Economic Development Strategic Innovation Fund. The other competitions focus on Reducing Environmental Footprint and Digital Oil and Gas.
Eligible Applicants
The CRIN Low Emission Fuels and Products Competition is open to technology developers, industry operators (including small, medium, and large enterprises), industry associations, research and development organizations, and not-for-profit organizations.
All applications must come from consortia consisting of at least one SME plus at least one oil and gas producer. Lead applicants, SMEs, and oil and gas producers must be incorporated in Canada.

Eligible Expenses
The Low Emission Fuels and Products Competition aims to identify the most promising technology solutions that will help Canada’s oil and gas industry sustainably develop low emission fuels and products, and integrate these into the global energy supply. The Competition has four focus areas.

- Carbon Capture and Utilization
- Hydrogen and Geothermal
- Low-Carbon Intensity Alternatives and Fuels
