New Entrant Program is to assist Manitobans with a keen
interest in dairy farming to enter the industry. Each year, Dairy
Farmers of Manitoba will grant 20 kg of daily butterfat quota at
no cost to one successful applicant under this program.
Eligible Applicants
In order to be considered for the New Entrant Program, an
applicant must:
- Be a Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant (proof
required). - Be a permanent resident of Manitoba (proof required).
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Have an acceptable facility and location for a dairy
operation or a detailed plan for an acceptable dairy
facility. - Supply a detailed two-year business plan for the dairy
operation. - Own and operate the dairy farm as a stand alone
production unit within Manitoba. - Own the dairy facility and land on which it is situated or
have a bona fide five-year lease agreement in place with
the owner of the facility and property. - Have the means to purchase and maintain 20 kg of daily
butterfat quota. - Submit a non-refundable $100.00 fee with each
application.
Note: Applicants planning on using an immediate family member’s production unit must confirm that the facility has not been used for milk production in the last two years.
