The Swine- Producer Assurance Rebate Program provides swine producers with a rebate for approved eligible equipment expenses that improve biosecurity and animal welfare needs.
Eligible Applicants
You are eligible to apply for a rebate if:
- You are a Saskatchewan swine producer;
- You are validated through Canadian Quality Assurance (CQA)/Animal Care Assessment (ACA)/Canadian Pork Excellent (CPE);
- You are 18 years of age;
- You must file income tax in Saskatchewan demonstrating a minimum of $50,000 in gross farm income in the year of the application;
- You have a Saskatchewan Premises Identification number;
- You have had an assessment completed by a veterinarian licensed in Saskatchewan.
Eligible Expenses
Biosecurity Containment Zone
- Quarantine capability (Max rebate: $5,000):
- Metal panels, gate(s),
- Metal feed trough, and
- Hand and boot wash in and out station;
- Deadstock management:
- Carcass cart and/or carcass puller;
Biosecurity Improvements
- Metering equipment:
- Includes equipment for dispensing medications, nutritional supplements and line cleaners into water;
- Cleaning and disinfection station(s):
- Hand wash and boot wash stations;
- Air filtration:
- Filtration system, excluding replacement fillers;
- Feed bin sensors:
- Bin level indicator, level sensors and monitors;
- Load in/out improvements:
- Ventilation, lighting, and
- Rubber matting, metal ramp with grip;
- Bedding storage secured against pests (Maximum rebate of $2,500):
- Posts, wire, fasteners;
- Water treatment monitoring equipment:
- Water filtration system may include chlorination, green sand filter, excluding replacement filters, and
- Monitoring and testing equipment;
- Medical equipment storage:
- Stationary or portable, lockable;
- Pressure washer dedicated for load in/out:
- 3000 psi or greater, including hoses and nozzles, and
- Hot water or bleach sprayer; and
- Signage for controlled and restricted zones:
- Gate and visitor signs specifying biosecurity.
Animal Welfare Improvements
- Advance warning/communication system:
- Welfare alarms including temperature and fan alarms;
- Air quality:
- Fans, ventilation;
- Euthanasia equipment:
- Captive bolt gun;
- Multi-gas detectors:
- SO2, carbon dioxide, ammonia;
- Enrichment items:
- Bite toys, balls, play chains and feed baskets;
- Improved lighting:
- LED/dimming;
- Pain control administration training by veterinarian:
- Training costs and mileage; and
- Remote surveillance for farrowing:
- All equipment, antennas and cables.
