The Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP) aims to improve the quality of training in the skilled trades enabling a more skilled, certified and productive workforce.
The Program also aims to improve the participation of key groups in the skilled trades to have a more inclusive workforce. The Program targets key groups, for example:
- Women
- Indigenous people
- Newcomers
- Persons with disabilities
- Visible minorities
Eligible Applicants
Funding: Union Training and Innovation Program – Investments in Training Equipment Stream
Your organization must be 1 of the following types:
- a union representing workers in Red Seal trades
- an organization managing training funds for Red Seal trades workers, for example:
- a joint training fund set up by a union
- a union and an employer association
Eligible Expenses
We can only pay you back for eligible costs. Eligible costs must directly relate to your project activities.
Here are some examples of eligible expenditures:
- capital assets (equipment and/or materials)
- equipment lease, rental or purchase and computer software (online and/or virtual training)
- internet and other information technology requirements (online and/or virtual training)
- staff wages (including mandatory employment-related costs) to support reporting
- professional fees (instead of wages) to support reporting
