At United Way British Columbia, we strengthen vital connections that support people in need in local communities across our province. One way we do this is through our various grant streams. These United Way grants help build a strong social support network by providing programs and services for communities in need. Our intention is to be responsive during challenging and urgent times to ensure our friends and neighbours are cared for and connected. Our grant streams are available throughout the year. Eligible Applicants

United Way British Columbia provides funding to non-profit organizations in the following areas: children and youth, food security, healthy aging, urgent response and more.

Eligible Expenses

Open Programs: 

  • Work Experience Opportunity Grants – provides program participants on income or disability assistance with essential skills and hands-on paid work experience at non-profits to improve their employability preparing them for in-demand jobs. Virtual Information Sessions: June 9 and 12, 2025.
  • United Way BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund – United Way BC is deeply saddened by the tragic events that took place on Saturday April 26 during the Lapu Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver. Our hearts go out to all those affected, and we extend our deepest sympathy to the Filipino community, who are mourning a profound loss. We are also thinking of any agency staff, volunteers, clients, and families who may have been personally impacted by this tragedy. This funding is only available to not-for-profit organizations and registered charities, with a maximum amount per grant application of $25,000.00.
