The Canada History Fund encourages Canadians to learn about Canada’s history, civic life and public policy. The Fund supports the development of learning materials, the organization of learning and developmental experiences, and the creation of networks that give Canadians opportunities to enhance their understanding of Canada.

Eligibility:

  • Key national Canadian history and civics sector organizations
  • Post-secondary educational institutions
  • Applicants must have:
    • A proven track record of achievements and recognition in the sector
    • A demonstrated capacity for geographic reach, to deliver programming to a pan-Canadian audience

Individuals, governments, and Canadian organizations that generally deliver regional programming are not eligible to apply.

Eligible Projects:

Eligible projects will focus exclusively on themes of Canadian history, civics and public policy and may include:

  • Learning materials
  • Web sites, mobile applications or other new media tools
  • Group activities such as conferences and workshops
  • Establishment of networks and partnerships
  • Large-scale works of reference

Priority for funding recommendations will be given to proposals that demonstrate:

  • A pan-Canadian focus or importance
  • A wide potential reach
  • An interactive learning experience
  • Diversified funding sources
  • Innovative use of technology
