The AgriScience Program is a program under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
The program aims to accelerate the pace of innovation by providing funding and support for pre-commercial science activities and cutting-edge research that benefits the agriculture and agri-food sector and Canadians.
There are two components:
- AgriScience – Clusters component: Proposals are intended to mobilize industry, government and academia through partnerships, and address priority themes and horizontal issues that are national in scope. Applications for Clusters closed as of February 1, 2018.
- AgriScience – Projects component: A single project or a smaller set of projects that would be less comprehensive than a Cluster. Applications are now being accepted for Projects.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants under Clusters are not-for-profit organizations, which may include:
- associations
- corporations
- cooperatives
- Indigenous organizations
On a case-by-case basis, academic institutions may be eligible as co-applicants only.
All eligible applicants must be legal entities capable of entering into legally binding agreements.
Eligible Expenses
Eligible applicants must also meet the principles and criteria outlined in the Applicant Guide, such as:
- Providing a minimum of 30% of the funding towards eligible costs
- Total Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada funding requested must be no more than $20 million and no less than $5 million
