Hello Everyone,
One of the best pieces of grant advice that I’ve received is called the “Say-Do Ratio,” which is the percentage of things you do that you say you’re going to do.
Ideally you want to get to 100%.
If you commit to something that you later realize you can’t deliver on, you communicate in advance of the deadline. People are generally very understanding of timeline changes when you give them notice.
It’s critical in grants that you follow this principal because you’re always up against application deadlines or “first come, first serve” grant deadlines.
I urge you to write this ratio down, share it with your colleagues or kids, and let me know how it goes. Thanks to Lee Hodgins and my good friend Dave for sharing this idea with me. Hope it helps someone reading this email.
I explain the Say-Do Ratio in the video below:

Here is the latest blurb on the government website as of June 9, 2020:
“We are committing up to $200 million in funding for eligible small- and medium-sized businesses and non-profits to access up to $5,000 to offset a portion of their relaunch costs.
These funds can be used for implementing measures to minimize the risk of virus transmission (physical barriers, personal protective equipment and disinfecting supplies), rent, employee wages or replacing inventory.
The program’s online application is expected to be available in the coming weeks. Program details, including eligibility, are being confirmed.
