Hello Everyone,
Before you write a grant, can you explain “the ask” in one sentence?
The grant should be won in the opening paragraph.
Mr. Wonderful echoed this view in this slide:
For example, when people ask, “Dave, what do you do?”
I say, “I write grants.”
Do I “do” more than that? Of course. I find grants, help prepare grant and investor meetings, write business awards…the list goes on.
Saying what “you do” sounds easy, but it’s really hard for just about everyone, especially in the innovation space.
Jon Lovink shared a media “desired headline” and three key message framework that works well in grants too. I’ll explain more in the video below.
We’re adding grants ALL THE TIME to the database. Watch them and win!
Do you have questions about grants? i.e. how they work, do you qualify, which grant should you apply to, etc? And do you want to speak with me directly?A couple of years ago. I had an online zoom class where I taught Grants 101 for 20-30 minutes, then I took all of your grant questions.
It was actually a blast and the students loved it.
Many of you have been calling, emailing, and submitting questions via my website. While I do my best to respond to them all, I can’t keep up.
So, I thought what the heck, maybe it’s time I put on an online class but ONLY IF YOU WANT.
It’s a lot of work for me to prepare this class, so I’m taking a survey of those interested.
Here is the DRAFT FORMAT
I won’t charge for this online event. I just want to know if you’re interested. If so, please email “interested” to davidk@albertabusinessgrants.ca
If I have enough responses, I’ll put the presentation together. We’ll have fun!
Thanks,
Dave

Do you need help grant writing?
Last week I completed a one-day grant writing session. It worked great, so if you have a grant that you want written, please let me know. I can come to you, and we can put your winning application together.
It will be a blast!
If you spend grant money, your expenses can end up in the newspaper…so be wise. Watch this.
