BACKGROUND
As you probably know, as of March 31, 2018, Growing Forward 2 (aka grants galore for agriculture producers and processors) is done.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Well here is where it gets interesting.
The new program is called the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP)
CAP is a five-year, $3 billion investment by federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the agriculture and agri-food sector.
Did you get that?
Everyone is working “together.”
I can only imagine how complicated that must be.
Seriously.
To any bureaucrats out there reading this post, I respect what you are doing.
The the new program was officially launched on April 1, 2018.
But the grants aren’t all dropping on that date.
That’s okay.
In fact, from a grant writing perspective, it’s awesome.
YOU CAN GET PREPARED!
Here is the key line according to the government’s website about future grants:
“The roll-out of the Canadian Agricultural Partnership program suite in Alberta began in April 2018 and THE 15 PROGRAMS WILL BE PHASED OVER THE SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL OF 2018. Applications and program details consisting of cost-shares and eligible activities and/or items will be released with the opening of each program. The criteria for eligibility will be made available along with the program details.”
Wakey, wakey Alberta agriculture businesses.
Did you see that?
Let me put that in marketing language everyone understands
“BREAKING NEWS! GRANT MONEY BLOWOUT SALE IS ON.”
I remember as a kid “cross border shopping.” (I grew up an hour from the USA Maine border).
Basically, everyone would go to the USA for cheaper prices.
A few years of that trend and local retailers were hammered.
Well look at what’s going on this summer.

Don’t wait.
