NEW! Nuffield Canada Scholarships: award up to six scholarships per year, valued at $20,000 CAD to Canadians with a passion for agriculture. Deadline: June 30, 2024. 

NEW! Protein Industries Canada is inviting skills development and training industry partners to address a shortage of skilled talent in Canada’s ingredient manufacturing and food processing sector. Deadline to submit proposal: July 19, 2024. 

Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP): Total Funding Available: $6,000,000. Expression of Interest/Project Pitch Video Submission: Spring, 2025.

Value-Added Program. Invests in projects that increase company sales and production capacity, expand market opportunities and create jobs in Alberta. Stream A – Application window will close when funds are fully utilized and may reopen if new funds become available. 

On-Farm Value-Added Program. Helps primary producers grow sales, expand production capacity, explore market opportunities and create jobs in Alberta. Stream A – Application window will close when funds are fully utilized and may reopen if new funds become available.

FCC’s Sustainability Incentive Program: receive one payment per year at a maximum of $2,000. Most of the programs are now open! 

Canada Brand is open to export-ready, registered Canadian business entities that have a role in producing, promoting or supporting Canadian agriculture, food or seafood products.

Alberta announces $50 million from TIER Fund for ERA’s annual Industrial Transformation Challenge: Access up to up to $10 million per project with a minimum request of $500,000. Deadline: June 21, 2024.

Farm Technology Program and Efficient Grain Handling Program: updates are being made and programming is expected to resume in June 2024.

2024-2025 Agriculture Funding Consortium: Full proposals due: July 31, 2024.

Agri-Processing Investment Tax Credit (APITC) provides a 12% non-refundable tax credit when corporations invest $10 million or more in a project to build or expand a value-added agri-processing facility in Alberta.

The On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) is now accepting applications for 2024. Apply now before funding limits are reached.

Agricultural Societies Infrastructure Revitalization Program: A new intake period is anticipated for the 2024-25 fiscal year, which will start after April 1, 2024 (details to be confirmed). Stay tuned.

Agri-Processing Investment Tax Credit (APITC) provides a 12% non-refundable tax credit when corporations invest $10 million or more in a project to build or expand a value-added agri-processing facility in Alberta.

Emerging Opportunities Program provides maximum grant funding to a project up to $2,000,000 funding.

Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP): program funding up to $300,000. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a continuous basis within each intake cycle year.

The Water Program supports agricultural water management by helping primary producers adopt agriculture water better management practices and priority actions.

African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Prevention and Preparedness Stream: access up to $1M funding. Deadline: November 30, 2024.

African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Welfare Slaughter and Disposal Stream: access up to $1M funding. Deadline: November 30, 2024.

Food Innovation Challenge – Cultivating a resilient food future: Developing the end-to-end Cellular Food capacity for Canadian global leadership. May open in 2025.

Between now and March 31, 2026, Protein Industries Canada will be investing $30 million into these artificial intelligence projects, benefiting the plant-based and agrifood sector.

AgriAssurance Program – National Industry Association Component: AAFC will contribute up to $1 million grant per year. Application is ongoing until September 30, 2027; however, the application period may close sooner if funding has been fully committed.

AgriAssurance Program – Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Component: AAFC contribution toward a project up to $50,000. Application is ongoing until September 30, 2027; however, the application period may close sooner if funding has been fully committed.

AgriMarketing Program: a $129.97-million program under the Sustainable CAP. Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2027 or until funding has been fully committed.

AgriInnovate Program: funding up to $5,000,000. Applications is ongoing until the end of the program on March 31, 2028, or until funding has been fully committed.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Program funding for the Research and Innovation Stream is $50 million. Program ends March 31, 2028.

Supply Management Processing Investment Fund contributes up to $5 million in non-repayable contribution to an organization over the life of the program until March 31, 2028.

Market Development Program for Turkey and Chicken: The program will provide over $44 million to the sector over the next 10 years.

Poultry and Egg On-Farm Investment Program (PEFIP): provides non-repayable contributions of almost $759 million over 10 years. Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2030.

2. Arts and Culture

NEW! Sponsorship program allows FACTOR to support music-related projects and events with $30,000 funding. Period One Deadline: June 21, 2024. 

NEW! Film and Television Tax Credit offers a refundable Alberta tax credit on eligible production costs. Applicants may apply for either a 22% or 30% tax credit rate. 

Planning to apply to the Artist – Driven Organizations component of the Explore and Create program? The Canada Council for the Arts has extended the deadline from January 2024 to the spring of 2025. 

Strategic Innovation Fund: Cultivate Grants: funding up to $250,000. June 19, 2024, is your last chance to apply for a grant under this time-limited program. 

Translation component of Arts Across Canada: funds up to $25,000 for each translation, plus an Annual Supplement for targeted costs. Next deadlines: June 5, 2024; September 25, 2024. 

Professional Development for Arts Professionals component of Supporting Artistic Practice: access up to $10,000 funding. Deadline: June 12, 2024.

Circulation and Touring component of Arts Across Canada: funds up to 50% of eligible costs, to a maximum of $200 000. Deadline: Next deadlines: June 26, 2024; October 30, 2024.

Canada Arts Training Fund provides financial support to arts organizations that specialize in training artists for professional national or international artistic careers. Deadline: Every 30th of June.

Alberta Made Production Grant: covers 25% of eligible Alberta production costs to a maximum of $125,000; Training and Mentorship Incentive, a top-up of up to $35,000. Next application intake window: July 2 -16.

Alberta Music Travel Grant provides travel assistance to Alberta-based music companies, artists and individuals. Deadline: July 15, 2024; Next application period: July 2 –  October 31, 2024.

Springboard Grant: total funding envelope of $100,000 is available. The 2024 grant will be opening in July 2024, stay tuned.

Future Focus Program: There is a total of $400,000 available through the program in 2024. Deadline: August 16, 2024, November 1, 2024.

Honouring the Children Grant: The total budget for this program is $75,000. Applications is ongoing until funds are allocated or until August 15, 2024.

Original Peoples Investment Program. Application period: July 3 – September 18, 2024.

Sector Innovation and Development component of Supporting Artistic Practice: access up to $50 000. Project grants Deadline: October 16, 2024.

Movable Cultural Property Grants help designated organizations acquire cultural property of outstanding significance and national importance to Canada. Application is ongoing. 

The Events component of the Community Support, Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiatives Program provides funding to community-based events.

Arts, culture and sports grants search: Find funding opportunities for projects in the areas of arts, culture, community, heritage, recreation, sport, and diversity and inclusion.

Legacy Fund – Building Communities through Arts and Heritage: access up to a maximum of $500,000.

Video program: A maximum of $40,000 in video funding is available per qualifying release per fiscal year, across all programs. Apply multiple times throughout the year.

Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC) provides eligible productions with a fully refundable tax credit, available at a rate of 25 per cent of the qualified labour expenditure. applications on an ongoing basis.

NEW! GRIT (Get Ready in Trades) is a trades-focused career exploration and development program created for youth with disabilities and barriers to success. Application is ongoing. 

NEW! Electricity Human Resources Canada’s (EHRC) Discovering Potential Program: provide subsidies of up to $24,000 to employers. Application is ongoing. End Date: March 31, 2025

UPDATE! Strive 4 Work: Fall intake will resume September 9, 2024. Apply and receive a living allowance of $15/hour while participating skills training.

Enabling Fund for Official Language Minority Communities – Employment Assistance Services: funding up to $10 million per project, per year. Deadline: June 20, 2024. 

Clinical Research Internships: CRP up to $10,000 x 16 or more. Applications will re-open June 2024.

YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange (SWSE): Applications are open for our next summer exchange program, running from June 29 to August 10, 2024. Few spots left. 

BioTalent Canada’s for SWPP 2024-2025 will now only be accepting applications for the term in which the placement is occurring. Next Deadlines: Spring/Summer 2024 – August 15, 2024; Fall 2024 term placements – December 6, 2024; Winter 2025 term placements – February 28, 2025.

Alberta is Calling! Moving Bonus Program will give  $5,000 refundable tax credit to eligible skilled tradespersons who move to Alberta between May 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. 

Science Horizons Youth Internship Program: wage subsidies up to $25,000. Applications for 2024-2025 intake are open!

FIRST (First Industrial Research, Science, or Technology) Jobs placement program: waitlist is currently open. Register now!

Work-Sharing Program helps employers and employees avoid layoffs, when there is a temporary decrease in the normal level of business activity that is beyond the control of the employer. 

Compensation for Employers of Reservists Program: applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. 

Computers for Schools Intern (CFSI) program seeks to enhance the employability and marketability of youth through internships. Application is ongoing.

TECHNATION’s Career Ready Program: An increased subsidy of 70% (to a maximum of $7000.00) is awarded to employers hiring students from under-represented groups

Canadian Benefit for Parents of Young Victims of Crime: eligible parents with payments of $500 per week, paid every 2 weeks, for a maximum of 35 weeks over a period of 3 years.

Career Starter wage subsidy open for a limited time. Get up to $15k to hire young talent.

Canada-Alberta Job Grant: up to 100% of training costs could be covered, up to $15,000 per trainee.

The Student Work Placement Program gives post-secondary students across Canada paid work experience related to their field of study. Apply for wage subsidies through one of the following funding recipients find here.

ECO Canada’s Science Horizons Youth Internship: receive up to 80% wage coverage up to $25,000 of a candidate’s salary.

Environmental Jobs Growth Program: eligible employers receive up to $18,750 in wage funding. Application is open.

The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) helps you pay for expenses while you train as an apprentice in a designated Red Seal trade. Learn more.

Cybersecurity Training and Work Integrated Learning Program: employers can access a wage subsidy up to $7,000.

The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) offers paid postgraduate internships for one-year appointments. Learn more.

Career Launcher Apprenticeships: eligible employers can receive $10,000.

International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers Canadian youth to gain professional experience abroad in the field of international development. More internship opportunities are coming in 2024.

Indigenous Employment Training Partnerships provides grant funding to assist Indigenous individuals to gain the necessary skills training and work experience.

4. Environment/CleanTech

NEW! Energy Innovation Program – Renewable Energy Demonstrations Call. Application is now open! Funding request up to $4,000,000. Deadline: Stream 1 – July 2, 2024; Stream 2 – September 26, 2024. 

$2.4 Million for Decentralised Energy Innovation Challenge. Deadline: June 21, 2024.

Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk supports the development of Indigenous capacity to participate actively in the implementation of the Species at Risk Act (SARA). Application for 2025-2026 will open in the fall of 2024. 

Alberta Land Trust Grant Program helps establish and administer new conservation easements. Check back for updates in late 2024.

Emissions Reduction Advancement Program: An industry-funded program established under the Clean Fuel Regulations that will support projects that reduce short term GHG emissions in Canada. More details will be available later in 2024.

Critical Minerals and Emerging Tech: Supports development of next-generation materials, critical minerals, and end products for a better minerals and materials industry. Application is ongoing. 

Renewable and Alternative Energy Program: This program invests in projects to develop and deploy clean technologies to benefit Albertans and contribute to the province’s low-carbon economy. 

Methane Emissions Reduction Program supports technologies that detect, monitor, and mitigate methane emissions reductions from Alberta’s oil and gas industry. Application is ongoing. 

Recovery Technologies program advances technologies that improve hydrocarbon recovery while reducing associated emissions. 

Remote Area Heating Allowance (RAHA) program: currently scheduled to expire March 31, 2026. Rebates to Albertans of up to 25% of the cost of fuel.

Green Freight Program – Stream 1 is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per Applicant towards Third-Party Fleet Energy Assessments and Truck/Trailer Equipment Retrofits.

Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and Hydrogen Program invests in projects to adapt, develop, and deploy innovative clean technologies.

AMEP technology development trials funding is to expedite the commerciality of new technologies. grant is up to 100% of the cost.

Alberta Petrochemicals Incentive Program provides grants to companies to attract investment in new or expanded market-driven petrochemical facilities.

Clean Energy for Rural and Remote Communities Program: still accepting applications under these streams: Biomass heating, district heating, and combined heat and power systems and Research, Development, and Demonstration projects.

Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund provides funding directly to provinces and territories to help them reduce carbon pollution, meet Canada’s 2030 climate target, and support our goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

NEW! Aboriginal Futures offers a Wage Subsidy program intended to assist First Nations and Inuit people who live in Calgary and the surrounding area secure employment. 

NEW! Aboriginal Futures offers a Post Secondary Summer Employment Program: Financial assistance is provided towards the wage of a student and encourages employers to hire post secondary students for summer employment. 

NEW! Affordable Housing Investment Program: City of Edmonton provides up to 25% of total capital costs for affordable housing. 

Education Partnerships Program – Regional Education Agreement component is now open. Deadline: June 15, 2024.

Equitable Access to Reading Program (EARP) – 2024 Call for Proposals: grant up to $6,000,000 per project. Deadline: June 19, 2024.

The Indigenous Reconciliation Initiative provides funding up to $100,000. Application is now ongoing through 2 intake periods: Deadlines: 1st Intake- Open until June 30, 2024; 2nd Intake: July 1 to October 31, 2024.

Aboriginal Business Investment Fund: provides up to $750,000 funding. 2024-25 application period is now open until September 15, 2024.

Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) Program: approved applicants are eligible to receive between $20,000 to $200,000 to support eligible project costs. Next application intake: Fall 2024. 

Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund – Indigenous Grants Program. Deadline: December 31, 2024.

Emergency Management Non-Structural Mitigation and Preparedness program: The 2024 to 2025 period to submit proposals is now open until funding is spent.

Funding for Indigenous-led awareness and education projects for cleaner transportation and clean fuels. Call for proposals with continuous intake open until March 31, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated.

Indigenous Leadership Fund: provides up to $180 million by 2029 to support climate action by Indigenous peoples. Call for proposals is open until March 31, 2027.

Mental Health Promotion Innovation Fund provides national funding to support the delivery of innovative, community-based programs in mental health promotion. Application is ongoing. 

The Health Services Integration Fund (HSIF) is an initiative supporting collaborative planning and multi-year projects aimed at better meeting the health-care needs of First Nations and Inuit. 

Public Land Trails Grant Program enhance recreation management on designated public land trails on provincial Crown land by providing funding opportunities for recreation partners. 

Wah-ila-toos: Funding opportunities help advance Indigenous-led climate action, support local economic development and create skilled jobs while reducing pollution and improving air quality. There is no deadline to apply, subject to available funds.

Safe Community First Responder Program: grants for safety equipment, professional training, or safety education programs to emergency response organizations. Application is ongoing.

Indigenous Artist Microgrant provides one-time funding to First Nation, Metis and Inuit individual artists. Application is now open.

Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program: Access to Capital: Indigenous entrepreneurs may receive up to $99,999 in funding assistance.

Circuit Rider Training Program: provides training and mentoring services to operators of First Nations drinking water and wastewater systems. Learn more.

Rupertsland Institute’s Apprenticeship Service Program (ASP) supports employers and inspiring trades workers by creating apprenticeship opportunities. Learn more.

Funding for Indigenous-led clean production capacity projects is still accepting applications until funding is no longer available. Apply now.

Band Support Funding helps First Nations with the costs of local government and with administering services. Learn more.

The Emergency management Assistance Program (EMAP) allows for the purchase of low-value equipment for emergency preparedness and mitigation projects. Apply here.

Community Opportunity Readiness: Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) provides funding up to $3 million for community economic infrastructure proposals. Learn more.

Health Facilities Program:  provide funding for infrastructure that supports the delivery of health-related programs and services.

7. Municipalities

Alberta Community Partnership: This program helps municipalities by providing support for regional collaboration and capacity building initiatives. In total, the 2024-25 ACP budget is $15.4 million. Updated guideline and deadlines will be posted by summer 2024. Stay tuned!

Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) – Programming: Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters provides support of up to $1,000,000. Next Deadline: October 15 for projects which will occur after April 1st of the following year.

Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP): Municipalities can apply for funding for projects to develop and maintain local transportation infrastructure. Open until November 30 for funding in the following year.

Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) program allows municipalities to borrow against future property tax revenues to help pay for infrastructure development required in a specific area.

Water Innovation Program: funds projects that lead to safe, secure drinking water; healthy aquatic ecosystems; and reliable water supplies for a sustainable economy.

Safe Community First Responder Program: grants for safety equipment, professional training, or safety education programs to emergency response organizations. Application is ongoing.

Wah-ila-toos: Funding opportunities help advance Indigenous-led climate action, support local economic development and create skilled jobs while reducing pollution and improving air quality. There is no deadline to apply, subject to available funds.

Wetland Replacement Program: apply for funding to construct or restore wetlands. Accepts applications year-round.

Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and Hydrogen Program invests in projects to adapt, develop, and deploy innovative clean technologies.

Infrastructure Canada is now accepting applications for both the planning and capital funding streams of the Zero Emission Transit Fund.

Rural Transit Solutions Fund Planning and Design Projects stream remains open: up to $50,000 in support of communities’ projects to plan and design new or expanded transit solutions for their communities.

Local Government Fiscal Framework – Capital funding: local governments will receive a total of $722 million funding to support infrastructure and economic projects in Alberta communities.

RDAR’s Accelerating Agricultural Innovations (AAI) 2.0 program is still open.

The Bitumen Partial Upgrading program supports technologies that enhance the value of a processed barrel of bitumen while reducing associated emissions.

The Bitumen Beyond Combustion (BBC) program develops technologies that convert Alberta oil sands components into value added products.

Indigenous Housing Capital Program (IHCP) provides funding to increase the supply of affordable off-reserve, off-settlement and on-settlement housing units for Indigenous peoples. Application is accepted year round.

Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) is a permanent source of funding, delivers over $2 billion every year to 3600 communities across the country.

Foreign Credential Recognition Program: provides funding for programs that contribute to the integration of skilled newcomers in their field or related field of study.

Land and Biodiversity Program funds projects that reduce the impact of natural resource development on the land and environment. Application is ongoing.

Hydrogen Centre of Excellence – Services Capacity provides up to $500,000 per project. Continuous intake until March 31, 2026.

Community Energy Conservation Program: access up to $500,000 to support energy audits or retrofits in a variety of municipally owned facilities. Deadline: March 2026 or upon funding becoming fully allocated, whichever comes first.

Green Freight Program: Stream 1 (Assess and Retrofit): is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000. Continuous intake basis until March 31, 2027.

AgriScience Program – Projects provide maximum funding for any single project is $5 million. The program ends March 31, 2028.

Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership: provides cost-shared funding to eligible municipalities to help build municipal facilities for water supply and treatment, and wastewater treatment and disposal.

Water for Life program: Municipalities can apply for funding for new regional water supply and treatment facilities, and wastewater treatment facilities.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize, the UAE’s pioneering global sustainability and humanitarian award, has officially announced that the 2025 cycle is now open for submissions. Deadline: June 23, 2024.

Active Communities Initiative: Funding capital projects that generate sport and recreation opportunities for Albertans. Invitation to Submit Full Application – June 30, 2024; Application deadline – August 31, 2024.

Outreach Initiative Grants and Contributions Program support non-profit organizations or charities for a variety of science- or innovation-based initiatives or projects. Applications are accepted on a semi-annual basis. Annual Deadline: October 10, 2024.

Affordable Housing Partnership Program: apply for funding for innovative and sustainable affordable housing projects. The next intake period is expected to open in fall 2024.

Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) Program: approved applicants are eligible to receive between $20,000 to $200,000 to support eligible project costs. Next application intake: Fall 2024.
