1. Agriculture

Farm Technology Program : application intake closes on December 22, 2023. Programming will resume in April 2024, under Year 2 of Sustainable CAP.

Application is now open for the 2023 Canada-Alberta Drought Livestock Assistance program , providing livestock producers with up to $165 million to maintain breeding herds. Deadline: January 15, 2024.

Agricultural Societies Infrastructure Revitalization Program: maximum amount of grant that may be awarded for a project is $100,000. Deadline: January 31, 2024.

AgriDiversity Program : AAFC contribution towards a project will normally not exceed $200,000 per year or a maximum of $1 million over 5 years. Application is ongoing.

RDAR’s Accelerating Agricultural Innovations (AAI) 2.0 program is now open.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream : program funding is $50 million over 7 years, with this stream ending March 31, 2028.

Matching Investment Fund (MIF) provides non-repayable contributions for product development projects on a matching investment basis. Application is first come, first served.

AgriScience Program : maximum total funding available to you under the projects component of the program is $10 million over the duration of the program.

Poultry and Egg On-Farm Investment Program : is a reimbursement-basedEndnote1 program that will provide non-repayable contributions of almost $759 million over 10 years.

Farm fuel and rural utility programs : Funding and programs to assist rural Albertans with essential services at a reasonable cost.

AgriAssurance Program – National Industry Association Component : AAFC contribution up to $1 million per year.

Agri-Food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program : provides up to $500,000 per project and up to 75% of total project costs. Application is ongoing.

Water Well Restoration or Replacement Program : Alberta landowners with damaged well can apply for reimbursement of associated costs.

2. Arts and Culture

Art for Social Change Public Art Residency : each artist or artist team will be paid $25,000 (not including GST) to participate. Deadline: January 5, 2024.

CMF-Shaw Rocket Fund Kids Digital Animated Series Program : Deadline: January 10, 2024.

Translation component of Arts Across Canada funds up to $25,000. Next deadline: January 10, 2024.

Documentary Heritage Communities Program : Application is now open until January 11, 2024.

Alberta Made Production Grant : The grant covers 25% of eligible Alberta production costs to a maximum of $125,000. Next Application windows: January 2 to 16.

Artistic Catalysts component of Engage and Sustain : funds up to 50% of your total annual revenues, averaged over the last 3 years. Deadline: January 15, 2025.

Provincial Arts Service Organizations Operating Funding : designed to support your organization’s operations. Deadline: February 1, 2024.

Post-Production, Visual Effects and Digital Animation Grant (PPG) : Applications will be accepted until March 1 each year, or when all funds for the budget year have been allocated.

Canada Cultural Spaces Fund : supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage culture and creative innovation.

Honouring the Children Grant : The total budget for this program is $75,000. Application is ongoing.

Odyssey – Language Assistant Program : Participants work 25 hours per week and receive a taxable salary of $27,000 for a nine-month work term.

Canada Cultural Investment Fund – Limited Support to Endangered Arts Organizations component assists professional arts organizations that are facing the prospect of closure. Application is ongoing.

The  Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI)  is a two-year, $200-million national fund to help major Canadian festivals survive and adapt to the pandemic.

3. Employment | Varies

Social Development Partnerships Program – Disability Component – Organizational Capacity Development Stream 1 . Up to $500,000 for a project that is up to 24 months in duration. Deadline: December 21, 2023.

Social Development Partnerships Program – Disability Component – Intersectional Capacity Development Stream 2 . Up to $700,000 for a project that is up to 24 months in duration. Deadline: December 21, 2023.

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)  provides wage subsidies to employers to create quality summer work experiences for young people. Deadline: January 10, 2023.

TECHNATION’s Career Ready Program : up to $7000 subsidy available. Winter 2024 Program is still open.

Hire a temporary foreign worker through the Recognized Employer Pilot . Phase 1 is now ongoing. Applications for Phase 2 will start in January 2024.

Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations : provides wage subsidies to eligible employers. 2024-2025 funding cycle deadline: January 19, 2024.

Biotalent’s Student Work Placement Program has reopened for January to March 2024 applications, with a limited capacity. Apply today before spots fill up!

ICTC’s WIL Digital program provides employers with a wage subsidy of up to $7,000 for underrepresented students. Winter 2023/2024 placements with start dates from January 2nd, 2024 to March 1st, 2024.

International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers Canadian youth to gain professional experience abroad in the field of international development. More internship opportunities are coming in 2024. 

BioTalent Canada’s Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) program : Grow your team and advance digital innovations with up to $24,000 in wage subsidy and training funds.

Supportive Care Assistant Program : get up to a $5,000 wage subsidy, and receive 280 to 560 hours of support!

Science Horizon Youth Internship Program covers 80% of wages up to $25K & training.

Environmental Jobs Growth Program : Eligible employers receive up to $18,750 in wage funding.

Colleges & Institutes Canada (CICan) is providing financial incentives up to $10,000 to SMEs in construction and manufacturing to help hire apprentices.

Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage (YCWBCH) : benefit from wage subsidies and access a pool of college and university graduates with innovative ideas and competitive skills.

Indigenous Employment Training Partnerships provides grant funding to assist Indigenous individuals to gain the necessary skills training and work experience.

4. Environment/CleanTech

Energy Innovation Program Smart Grid Demonstration Call for Proposals : Program funding for this call is open to projects that request between $500,000 and $6,000,000. Deadline: January 10, 2024. 

Energy Innovation Program – National Energy Systems Modelling Call is now open for EoI until January 26, 2024.

Energy Innovation Program Smart Grid Regulatory Innovation Capacity Building Call for Proposals : Program funding for this call is open to projects that request between $250,000 and $1,500,000. Deadline: January 31, 2024.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has launched the Agricultural Methane Reduction Challenge , a $12 million funding opportunity aimed at decreasing methane emissions in the cattle sector. Deadline: February 7, 2024.

Low Carbon Economy Challenge : application is now open until February 8, 2024.

ClimateWest has a total of $300,000 in funding available to support approved projects. Up to $50,000 may be awarded per project proposal. Deadline: February 20, 2024.

Energy Innovation Program – Carbon capture, utilization and storage RD&D Call – Utilization Focus Area is now open until February 23, 2024.

Disaster Recovery Program provides financial assistance for uninsurable loss and damage caused by emergencies and disasters. Deadline: February 26, 2024.

Green Construction through Wood (GCWood) Program : application is ongoing until Ongoing until June 30, 2024.

Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) Program : provide eligible purchasing/leasing organizations with incentives of up to $200,000.

Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) seek to invest in projects that integrate technologies leading to greater energy efficiency and explore bioenergy carbon capture in forest sector operations. Application is ongoing.

Canadian AgTech partnering delegation to Brazil . Deadline: December 22, 2023.

Canadian Biomanufacturing (of Advanced Therapies & Biologics) Technology Partnering Delegation to the United Kingdom . Extended until December 29, 2023.

CanExport Associations : access up to $250,000 in annual funding. Application is until January 9, 2024.

United Kingdom Fintech – Canadian Technology Accelerator . Deadline: January 24, 2024.

Boston and San Francisco digital health – Canadian Technology Accelerator . Deadline: February 28, 2024.

Taipei artificial intelligence (AI) for technology- Canadian Technology Accelerator . Deadline: February 28, 2024.

ASEAN Watertech – Canadian Technology Accelerator . Deadline: March 6, 2024.

Canada Brand  is open to export-ready, registered Canadian business entities that have a role in producing, promoting or supporting Canadian agriculture, food or seafood products. 

International Technology Partnership  supports Alberta businesses with up to $250,000 to develop products or to conduct pilot tests with an international partner.

6. Indigenous

Northern and Regional Economic Development Program : access up to $200,000 to support eligible project costs. Deadline: December 20, 2023.

Small Community Opportunity Program : receive up to $100,000 funding for local projects. Deadline: January 10, 2023.

ClimateWest has a total of $300,000 in funding available to support approved projects. Up to $50,000 may be awarded per project proposal. Deadline: February 20, 2024.

Emergency Management Non-Structural Mitigation and Preparedness program : provides funding to build resiliency and prepare for natural hazards. Application is ongoing basis until the funds are exhausted or until March 31, 2024.

Indigenous Housing Capital Program (IHCP) provides funding to increase the supply of affordable off-reserve, off-settlement and on-settlement housing units for Indigenous peoples.

Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) : receive up to 100% funding of eligible program costs.

Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program funding – Indigenous organizations : NRCan’s contribution is up to a maximum of $2M per project.

Clean Energy Initiatives in Indigenous, rural and remote communities : an additional $300 million is available until 2027 for your clean energy projects.

Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program – Access to Capital : individual Indigenous entrepreneurs may receive up to $99,999 in funding assistance. 

The Reserve Land and Environment Management Program (RLEMP) : prepare a community for transition to a more comprehensive land management model.

Professional and Institutional Development Program : funds projects that develop the capacity of First Nations and Inuit communities to perform core functions of government.

Community Opportunity Readiness program provides funding up to $3 million for community economic infrastructure proposals.

Health Facilities Program : provide funding for infrastructure that supports the delivery of health-related programs and services.

Aboriginal Business Investment Fund : funds up to $750,000 to support an Indigenous community-owned economic development project. The call for  ABIF  applications opens April 21.

Indigenous Reconciliation Initiative : Applications will open in April 2024. 

7. Municipalities

Northern and Regional Economic Development Program : access up to $200,000 to support eligible project costs. Deadline: December 20, 2023.

Energy Innovation Program Smart Grid Demonstration Call for Proposals : Program funding for this call is open to projects that request between $500,000 and $6,000,000. Deadline: January 10, 2024.

African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Welfare Slaughter and Disposal Stream : Application is open until November 30, 2024 or until funding has been exhausted.

African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Prevention and Preparedness Stream : provide up to $23.4 million over 2 years. Application is ongoing until November 30, 2024.

Rural Transit Solutions Fund of the Capital Projects stream : applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $5 million. Application is ongoing. 

Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) in the Prairie provinces : provides non-repayable contributions by reimbursing costs that successful applicants have paid.

Study: GHG reduction pathway feasibility – Portfolio of buildings : Grant for a maximum of $200,000 to cover up to 80% of eligible costs.

8. Non-Profit 

Northern and Regional Economic Development Program : access up to $200,000 to support eligible project costs. Deadline: December 20, 2023.

Community Facility Enhancement Program – Small Funding Stream : For financial assistance up to $125,000. Deadline: January 15, 2024.

Cultural Heritage Initiatives Program : provides up to $25,000 to eligible organizations. Deadline: January 15, 2024.

Community Initiatives Program (CIP) Project based grant stream : provide up to $75,000 funding. Deadline: January 15, 2024.

Community Initiatives Program (CIP) Operating stream : provide up to $75,000 funding. Deadline: January 30, 2024.

ClimateWest has a total of $300,000 in funding available to support approved projects. Up to $50,000 may be awarded per project proposal. Deadline: February 20, 2024.

Space Creation Grant : $28 million is being allocated to support private operators with some of the costs associated with opening new child-care spaces.

Alberta Ecotrust Foundation’s Environmental Grants : to open mid-December for the 2024 intake.

Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Concept Development . Deadline: Window # 2: April 15, 2024.

Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) program  generally provides non-repayable contributions by reimbursing costs that successful applicants have paid. 

Canada Life – Stronger Communities Together : Supporting charitable organizations and initiatives across the country is one of the ways Canada life gives back to Canadians.

The  Legal Aid Program  provides contribution funding to the provinces and territories for the delivery of legal aid services for economically disadvantaged persons.

Repsol Global : funds opportunities that generate positive impacts and sustainable socio-economic development in the community.

9. Post Secondary | Varies

Persons Case Scholarship : 40 students will receive $2,500 each for their studies. Application through GATE until December 18, 2023.

Applied Research Tools and Instruments grants  support the purchase of research equipment with up to $200,000 funding. Deadline: January 16, 2024.

Partnership Engage Grants : provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities with up to $25,000 funding. Next deadline: March 15, 2024.

NSERC Alliance – Alberta Innovates Advance Program 2023 – 2024 is now open. request up to $150,000 per year and can be for up to two years in duration.

Mitacs Elevate  includes a research management training program and a postdoctoral fellowship. Your partner organization’s financial contribution starts at $30,000 per year.

NSERC Alliance Grants support research projects with up to $1 million per year for 5 years. Application is ongoing.

Summer Research Studentships : The award is meant to encourage students to consider pursuing formal training and a career in health research.

NSERC-National Science Foundation – Collaboration on quantum science and artificial intelligence : application is ongoing.

Applied Research and Development grants : funds up to $150,000 per year up to 3 years.

Bursary for Internationally Educated Nurses (BIEN) : up to $30,000 bursary per learner. The application is first-come, first-served.

10. Technology | Varies

The  ACT Open Call  is a funding scheme that can support innovative and international CCUS projects. Application is open throughout 2023 until December 31, 2023.

MindFuel’s 2024 Tech Futures Challenge is now open for application. Final registration until January 15, 2024. 

Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Concept Development . Deadline: Window # 2: April 15, 2024.

The  Digital Economy Program  helps small businesses take their businesses online.

Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) : minimum amount is $10 million for a project with at least $20 million in total eligible supported costs.

The Bitumen Partial Upgrading program supports technologies that enhance the value of a processed barrel of bitumen while reducing associated emissions.

As part of the Alberta Broadband Strategy, the Government of Alberta have committed $36 million to the Alberta Broadband Fund (ABF)

The Artificial Intelligence for Design (AI for Design) Challenge program develops and provides AI technologies and capabilities to accelerate discovery, R&D, and innovation processes.

International Technology Partnership Program : provides up to $250,000 in funding over a maximum eighteen month term.

Alberta Digital Traction is a funding program of up to $50,000 for small-and medium-sized Alberta enterprises (SMEs). Application is ongoing.

Strategic Networking and Development Grants : accept applications for support of up to $25,000 per project.

Get up to $15,000 to boost your business technology through Canada Digital Adoption Program – Boost Your Business Technology Grant .

Digital Research Infrastructure Strategy  to fund up to $375 million to ensure that Canadian researchers have the digital tools they need to support scientific excellence.

Minister’s Awards for Transportation Innovation : Deadlines for submissions is January 26, 2024.

Energy Globe Award : participate in the world’s most prestigious award for sustainability. Deadline: January 31, 2024.

Global Energy Show Awards : Call for submissions now open until February 2, 2024.

Nominations for the  33rd Annual Emerald Awards  are open until February 12, 2024.

Telly Awards  honor excellence in video and television across all screens. Final Deadline: February 23, 2024.

Made in Alberta Awards : One overall winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize. Deadline: February 29, 2024.

Alberta Community Justice Awards : The nomination deadline for the 2024 awards will be announced soon.

The Green Municipal Fund will launch its Growing Canada’s Community Canopies (GCCC) initiative in Spring 2024 .

Alberta’s government is increasing funding for security infrastructure and officer presence at Islamic and Jewish faith-based schools to improve safety .

Alberta’s government is providing $5 million to the Community Fireguard Program .

The Alberta Made Screen Industries Program will support 155 locally made film and television projects with $2.8 million in mentorship and post-production grants .
