The Arctic Winter Games are an international celebration of sport and culture. The fund is a legacy of the 2010 Arctic Winter Games which were held in Grande Prairie on March 6 to 13, 2010 and was made possible because of the overwhelming support of the community and the financial discipline of the Host Society.

The 2010 Arctic Winter Games Legacy Fund offers up to $5,000 in funding to bring new and exciting recreation, sporting and/or cultural events for youth to Grande Prairie and region. . Our goal is to provide athletes and coaches with a home field advantage – with more sporting events, tournaments, and games in the Grande Prairie region. Funding is awarded to new events (1st year) or a sporting or cultural event that does not occur each year.

Eligible Applicants

Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • The impact of the project to Grande Prairie and the region
  • Reasonableness of the budget; financial need
  • Ability of the applicant to complete proposed project successfully

Eligible Expenses

The intent of the fund is to bring new and exciting recreation, sporting and cultural events for youth to Grande Prairie and region. Funding will be rewarded to those projects that are new events (1st year) or a sporting or cultural event that do not occur each year.
