Grants are available between $50,000 up to a maximum of $250,000 to eligible businesses or up to a maximum of $500,000 to eligible groups in collaboration.

Description

Accelerating Manufacturing Scale-Up Grant Program aims to support  small and medium-sized businesses in British Columbia to accelerate innovative capacity in the manufacturing sector, strengthen critical provincial supply chains, and create new, sustainable economic opportunities for businesses.

Applications from the shipbuilding, aerospace, forestry, and food processing sectors will be given priority due to their alignment with strategic B.C. government economic priorities. Grants are available between $50,000 up to a maximum of $250,000 to eligible businesses or up to a maximum of $500,000 to eligible groups in collaboration.

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the program, you must be either:

An Individual Business

A B.C. small or medium-sized manufacturing business that:

  • Has sole or primary operations in B.C.
  • Has been operating in B.C. for at least 12 months
  • Has proof of manufacturing capability evidenced either by:
    • the T2 return, specifically schedule 125 – Income Statement Information, or
    • the T2125 – Statement of Business for Professional Activities
  • Filed corporate income taxes in B.C. for either the 2019 or 2020 tax year
  • Currently employs between 2 and 149 people in B.C.
  • Has at least 25 per cent of project funding from other sources (i.e. industry, revenue, other government funding)

A Group in Collaboration 

A group of two or more small or medium-sized manufacturing businesses working together on a project, where all parties:

  • Currently each employ between 2 and 149 people
  • Have proof of manufacturing capability
  • Are at arm’s length (independent) from each other
  • One project partner will act as the lead entity and submit the proposal on behalf of all project partners

Eligible Expenses

An eligible project can include any of the following activities:
1. Prototype, pilot or demonstration of new technology
2. Commercialization of new technology and/or product
3. Market access/marketing
4. Manufacturing diagnostic
