Agri-Québec Plus

The total payout from the AgriStability and Agri-Québec Plus programs, for a same participation year, cannot exceed $3 million.

Description

The Agri-Québec Plus program offers complementary financial support to Québec’s farm businesses that:

  • Participate in the AgriStability program;
  • Have a net annual income of under $50,000;
  • Work in sectors where the products are not covered or associated by the Farm Income Stabilization Insurance (ASRA) program or are not supply-managed;
  • Meet certain eligibility criteria.

This program covers productions carried on in Québec. The coverage offered is 85% and is complementary to Agri-Stability coverage.

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the Agri-Québec Plus program, you must participate in the AgriStability program. You must also meet these conditions:

  • Individual
    • Be domiciled in Québec and provide your social insurance number.
  • Joint-stock company
    • Have head office and main place of business in Québec. Hold share capital of which at least 50% of the voting rights are held by one or more shareholders domiciled in Québec or who have their head office and main place of business in Québec.
  • Partnership (general, joint venture, limited) or non-profit organization
    • Have main place of business in Québec.
    • Be composed, for at least half of its members, of persons domiciled in Québec or who have their head office and main place of business in Québec and who have at least 50% of the shares of the partnership.
  • Cooperative
    • Have head office and main place of business in Québec.
    • Be composed, for at least half of its members, of persons domiciled in Québec or who have their head office and main place of business in Québec.
  • Trust
    • Have been created for the purpose of operating a farm business located in Québec.
    • Be composed, for at least half of its beneficiaries, of persons domiciled in Québec or who have their head office and main place of business in Québec.

Eligible Expenses

Benefits are calculated for the Agri-Québec Plus program when the final payment for AgriStability is calculated. There are no interim payments with Agri-Québec Plus.

Agri-Québec Plus does not kick in when the net income calculated for the purpose of the program exceeds $50,000. The program payment is therefore limited to the amount required to make up the difference between the net income and $50,000.

The total payout from the AgriStability and Agri-Québec Plus programs, for a same participation year, cannot exceed $3 million.
