Healthy Eating: Stream 1 – Support for the Conduct of Diagnostic Studies│MAPAQ

Covers 70% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of $100,000 per applicant for the duration of the program.

Description

Identify opportunities to develop or improve processed foods to make them good nutritional quality, foods of improved nutritional value, foods of health value, or to reduce the use of food additives, through the conduct of diagnostic studies by eligible companies.

Eligible Applicants

Businesses that fall into any of the following categories are eligible:

  • food processing companies;
  • companies that outsource;
  • businesses that have a central kitchen;
  • Groups of food processing companies.

 

These companies must also meet the following requirements:

  • be registered in the Québec enterprise register;
  • be located in Québec or have at least one establishment or branch located in Québec;
  • Carry out the processing of the food developed as part of the project in Quebec;
  • market, at a minimum, one food in Quebec.

Eligible Expenses

The following projects are eligible, carried out by an external consultant and allowing the applicant to make an informed decision regarding product development and marketing:

  • the carrying out of a diagnostic study to identify avenues of work with a view to developing a food of good nutritional quality. If it is a beverage, the project must also aim for a dietary fibre intake of at least 7% of the daily value (2 g per reference amount) or the addition of a bioactive compound;
  • conducting a diagnostic study to identify avenues of work to modify the formulation of a food to make it a food of enhanced nutritional value or a food of health value;
  • Conducting a diagnostic study to reduce or eliminate the use of food additives in foods of good nutritional quality.

Deadline Date

Projects are submitted continuously until March 31, 2025.
