Heritage Preservation Partnership Program – Roger Soderstrom Scholarship | Government of Alberta

An individual is limited to one award of up to $5,000 per degree program.

Description

The Heritage Preservation Partnership Program (HPPP) provides matching grants and scholarship funds to support initiatives that preserve and interpret Alberta’s heritage.

The Roger Soderstrom Scholarship honours the late Roger Soderstrom’s work and career with the Government of Alberta in encouraging preservation and interpretation of Alberta’s heritage.

Eligible Applicants

The applicant must be a permanent Alberta resident enrolled in a graduate or extended study program with a proposed research project at that level, in the following fields, but not limited to:

  • architectural preservation
  • urban or area planning and conservation
  • historic resource management
  • archaeology
  • history
  • palaeontology

The research project must have significant Alberta content and will help with the preservation or understanding of Alberta’s heritage.

Eligible Expenses

Applications are evaluated using a number of factors, including:

  • quality of the research plan
  • benefits of the research to Albertans
  • experience and qualifications of the applicant

The level of funding will be further determined based on the program’s budget, the project’s individual merit and in comparison, with other applications. Applicants will be notified of the funding decisions in November or December. Funds will be paid to successful applicants once the approval process is complete.
