Description

The International Technology Partnership program helps Alberta technology businesses further develop their product or pilot the technical and business merits of their product to prove its value, and advance commercialization.

With the International Technology Partnership program, applicants will work with an international partner to prove the product value, and advance commercialization.

Eligible Applicants

Your business may qualify for this program, if:

  • You have fewer than 500 full-time employees and less than $50,000,000 in annual gross revenue.
  • You have a project that will bring the technology closer to commercialization through further development, testing, or first pilots of the product in an operational environment.
  • You have the participation of at least one International Project Partner before applying to the program.
  • You can complete the project within 18 months and reasonably expect to make their first sale within two years after the project is completed.
  • Your contribution will be matched by the program, and the international project partner is also expected to match the applicant’s contributions, up to a total maximum investment of $750,000.

Eligible Expenses

The International Technology Partnership Program provides support for up to $250,000.

  • Alberta Innovates will match the Applicant’s contributions for eligible project costs to a
    maximum
  • Investment of $250,000. The Applicant’s matching funds must be in the form of 50% Cash and
    50% In-kind contributions;
  • The International Project Partner is expected to match the Applicant’s contribution. (The
    collective “Contribution” of $500,000 or more, from the Applicant and International Project
    Partner, expands the total project scope.) The funds are provided to cover Eligible Expenses
    only;

An example of the funding contribution to support the project:

  • Alberta Innovates Investment of $250,000
  • Alberta SME $250,000 (50% Cash & 50% In-Kind)
  • International Project Partner $250,000 (50% Cash & 50% In-Kind)
  • Where possible, other sources of funding from the International Government or agencies
