Description

The New Brunswick Junior Mining Assistance Program (NBJMAP)is a financial assistance program for private-sector Junior companies. It provides up to 50% of eligible costs, within defined limits, for mineral exploration projects and is intended to increase the probability of finding economically viable mineral resources in New Brunswick.

Eligible Applicants

Any private or publicly traded mineral exploration company is eligible for the program, providing:

  • it holds the mineral rights, or an option agreement, to the property named in the application
  • it does not have a self-sustained cash flow from mining operations
  • it has fulfilled all commitments related to previous funding from the province
  • its principal business is mineral exploration and/or development
  • must be registered with the New Brunswick Corporate Registry to carry out work in New Brunswick.

Eligible Expenses

Eligible pre-approved work may include, but is not restricted to, the following:

  • drilling for exploration purposes;
  • trenching;
  • geological, geochemical and geophysical surveys;
  • bulk sampling and metallurgical testing;
  • analytical services from an accredited commercial laboratory
  • pXRF analyses will be accepted at a cost of $10 per sample if analytical protocols are provided (including certified reference materials, duplicate samples, blanks and calibration measurements) where applicable
  • hiring geological consultants to work on the project provided there are no staff geologists, or there is a subject expert needed on the proposed project (does not include consultant expenses such as lodging, meals, travel, etc.)
  • student wages for university or college student(s) studying geoscience/mining technology up to 10% of grant total (some conditions apply.)
