Municipality Supported Clinics Grant | Government of Alberta

Description

The Municipality Supported Clinics Grant Program will improve patient access to primary health care through team-based care. Funding will be used to support rural municipalities or regions to strengthen team-based models of care, which may include support for municipalities taking over clinic ownership or operations within their community. Rural municipalities or regions must have established infrastructure and a defined need to apply for the program.

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the program, rural municipalities or regions must meet mandatory requirements and adhere to program criteria.

Requirements include:

  • having existing clinical infrastructure but needing funding for team-based models of care, which may include support to take over ownership of/operate clinics or support operations of the clinic
  • providing a minimum of 50% of total funding costs for municipalities to take over ownership of/operate clinics or support operations of the clinic
    • Alberta Health will match the total funding costs provided by the municipality, up to a maximum of $200,000.
  • being listed on the Rural Remote Northern Program (RRNP) Community Rate Table
  • developing a sustainability plan to ensure the long-term sustainability of the municipality maintaining support/ownership/operation of the clinic after the 2-year grant term ends
    • This component will be included in the expression of interest form together with any additional information.
  • participating in and supporting project evaluation to ensure outcomes are aligned with overall MAPS implementation and future direction

Eligible Expenses

Funding will be used to support rural municipalities or regions to strengthen team-based models of care, which may include support for municipalities taking over clinic ownership or operations within their community.
