ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. I’ve received another grant-win email from a student who attended the fall Advanced Grant Writing Course. Those awesome students are already at $486,000 in grant wins. I’ll be posting the total 2023 student wins in a future newsletter.
  2. Now is the time to submit your training grant for the upcoming course. You can know if you won the grant before class starts on April 17, 2024. Email me and I’ll help you apply. 

 

A number of upcoming grant deadlines are below. 

  • Empowering Futures: Grant up to $10k to employers who create new Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities for students and first-year apprentices. March 21, 2024.
  • Inventures 2024 Startup Pitch Event – Applications Now Open! Apply and have a chance to score $10,000 in funding! Deadline: March 15, 2024. 
  • Zero Emission Transit Fund is now accepting applications for both the planning and capital funding streams. Apply now.

FEBRUARY

  1. Moonshot: Mining, Minerals, Manufacturing Initiative:  a $5M program designed to support the development of novel In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) solutions for mining, minerals and manufacturing for both lunar and terrestrial environments. Second Round of Application EoI: February 15, 2024.
  2. The Agricultural Societies Infrastructure Revitalization Program provides annual capital funding to help agricultural societies make major repairs to existing infrastructure. Deadline: February 15, 2024.
  3. Edmonton Arts Council’s Grants for Individuals & Collectives is now open. Deadline: February 15, 2024.
  4. John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) is a critical strategic investment tool designed to help institutions attract and retain the very best of today’s and tomorrow’s researchers. Next deadline: February 15, 2024.
  5. ClimateWest has a total of $300,000 in funding available to support approved projects. Up to $50,000 may be awarded per project proposal. Deadline: February 20, 2024.
  6. Energy Innovation Program – Carbon capture, utilization and storage RD&D Call – Utilization Focus Area is now open until February 23, 2024.
  7. Disaster Recovery Program provides financial assistance for uninsurable loss and damage caused by emergencies and disasters. Deadline: February 26, 2024.   
  8. Alberta Real Estate Foundation funds initiatives that support and advance education, research, law reform, and other activities related to real estate. Up to $250,000 funding available. Deadline: February 27, 2024.
  9. Boston and San Francisco digital health – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: February 28, 2024.
  10. Boston and Cambridge tech and life sciences – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: February 28, 2024.
  11. Taipei artificial intelligence (AI) for technology- Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: February 28, 2024.
  12. Alberta Community Justice Grant: Funding of up to $1,200,000 will be allocated for the 2023-24 fiscal period. Deadline: February 29, 2024.
  13. Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program – Energy Efficiency Solutions: access funding up to $20 million per proposal. Next call is anticipated to be launched in early 2024. 
  14. International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers Canadian youth to gain professional experience abroad in the field of international development. More internship opportunities are coming in 2024. 
  15. Agri-Food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program: provides up to $500,000 per project and up to 75% of total project costs. Application is ongoing.
  16. Rural Transit Solutions Fund of the Capital Projects stream: applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $5 million. Application is ongoing.
  17. Health Facilities Program provide funding for infrastructure that supports the delivery of health-related programs and services.
  18. Aboriginal Business Investment Fund: provides up to $750,000 to support an Indigenous community-owned economic development project. That could be up to 100% of eligible project costs.
  19. International Technology Partnership supports Alberta businesses with up to $250,000 to develop products or to conduct pilot tests with an international partner.
  20. Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) Program: provide eligible purchasing/leasing organizations with incentives of up to $200,000.
  21. Woodcock Fund: aims to distribute more than $100,000 each year in grants ranging from $2,000 to $12,000, depending upon the severity of the emergency.
  22. FACTOR Video program: maximum of $40,000 in video funding is available per qualifying release per fiscal year, across all programs. Application is ongoing.
  23. Canada Brand is open to export-ready, registered Canadian business entities that have a role in producing, promoting or supporting Canadian agriculture, food or seafood products. 
  24. Bursary for Internationally Educated Nurses (BIEN): up to $30,000 bursary per learner. The application is first-come, first-served.
  25. Regional Quantum Initiative (RQI) in the Prairie Provinces: EOIs will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until the funding is fully allocated.
  26. Green Jobs Internship program: subsidize up to a maximum of $30,000 for youth ages 15 to 30 in the natural resources sector.
  27. Eurostars is the largest international funding program for SMEs seeking to collaborate on R&D projects for commercialization.
  28. Are you ready to go global or explore new markets? The Trade Accelerator Program is your ticket to take your business to the next level.

MARCH

  1. Indigenous Arts Individual Project Funding: access up to $15,000 grant to support your cultural or artistic projects. Deadline: March 1, 2024.
  2. Post-Production, Visual Effects and Digital Animation Grant (PPG): Applications will be accepted until March 1 each year, or when all funds for the budget year have been allocated.
  3. Canada Post Community Foundation: up to three (3) Signature Grants of $50,000 each can be awarded each year. DeadlineMarch 1, 2024.
  4. College and Community Innovation program: College and Community Social Innovation Fund grants: Receive up to $120,000 per year. Deadline: March 1, 2024.
  5. ASEAN Watertech – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: March 6, 2024.
  6. Advanced Manufacturing Quantum Program: NGen, and DIGITAL, Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster for digital technologies, have partnered to launch $30 million in new projects to drive the commercialization of quantum technologies. Third Intake Deadline: March 7, 2024.
  7. Odyssey – Language Assistant Program: Participants work 25 hours per week and receive a taxable salary of $27,000 for a nine-month work term. Deadline: March 12, 2024.
  8. Innovation Booster provides up to 50% of total eligible project costs to advance your food innovation and research outcomes. Winter Intake #2: February 15 – March 14, 2024.
  9. Partnership Engage Grants: provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities with up to $25,000 funding. Next deadline: March 15, 2024.

  13. Funding for Indigenous-led awareness and education projects for cleaner transportation and clean fuels. Call for proposals with continuous intake open until March 31, 2024, or until funds are fully allocated.
  14. ICTC’s WIL Digital program provides employers with a wage subsidy of up to $7,000 for underrepresented students. All placements must end on or before March 31st, 2024.  
  15. Funding for Indigenous-led awareness and education projects for cleaner transportation and clean fuels: continuous intake open until March 31, 2024.
  16. Emergency Management Non-Structural Mitigation and Preparedness program: provides funding to build resiliency and prepare for natural hazards. Application is ongoing basis until the funds are exhausted or until March 31, 2024.
  17. Funding for National Service Organizations: Funding is up to 75% of eligible expenses for up to a maximum of $650,000 per fiscal year. Deadline: March 31, 2024.

APRIL

  1. The College Fund supports projects that enhance Canadian colleges’ capacity to carry out applied research and technology development. Notices of Intent Deadline: April 7, 2024.
  2. The Aqualunar Challenge is calling Canadian innovators to create innovative technologies for use on the Moon to purify lunar water. Deadline: April 8, 2024.
  3. Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Concept Development. Window # 2 Deadline: April 15, 2024.
  4. Sector Innovation and Development component of Supporting Artistic Practice: access up to up to $50 000 per year. Next deadline: April 17, 2024.
  5. Concept to Realization component of Explore and Create: access up to $100 000 (to a maximum of $300 000 over 3 years) funding. Deadline: April 17, 2024.
  6. The Indigenous Reconciliation Initiative provides funding up to $100,000 for cultural or economic projects through two streams. Application will open in April 2024.
  7. Farm Technology Program and Efficient Grain Handling Program: Eligible expenses will be cost-shared at 50% grant and 50% applicant. Programming will resume in April 2024, under Year 2 of Sustainable CAP. 
  8. Aboriginal Business Investment Fund: funds up to $750,000 to support an Indigenous community-owned economic development project. The call for ABIF applications opens April 21.
  9. Community Energy Conservation (CEC) program will provide financial rebates to municipalities to help identify energy-saving opportunities and implement retrofit projects in municipally-owned facilities. Expected to launch in 2024.
  10. Municipal Energy Managers Program will provide funding to offset an energy manager’s salary.  This program is anticipated to open in Spring 2024.
  11. Commemorate Canada program provides funding to initiatives that commemorate and celebrate historical figures, places, events and accomplishments of national significance. More information about future intake processes may be available in Spring 2024.
  12. Affordable Housing Partnership Program: apply for funding for innovative and sustainable affordable housing projects. Details on the next intake period will be available in spring 2024.
  13. Artists and Education Funding supports Alberta schools by subsidizing fees of professional Alberta artists of any artistic discipline. Deadline: May 1, 2024.
  14. Connections & Exchanges Initiatives program: invests in activity and work that connects applicant organizations with Edmonton’s artists and arts professionals. Deadline: May 1, 2024.
  15. CIP Project-Based grant provides funding to new community-based programs, initiatives, events and publications. Next deadline: May 15, 2024.
  16. Community Facility Enhancement Program: access up to $1 million funding. Small Funding Stream: May 15, 2024; Large Funding Stream: June 15, 2024.
  17. Magazine Publishers Operating Grant provides funding to help over operating and specific business development related expenses. The intake period is open from April 1 to June 1 annually.
  18. The Zayed Sustainability Prize, the UAE’s pioneering global sustainability and humanitarian award, has officially announced that the 2025 cycle is now open for submissions. Deadline: June 23, 2024.
  19. Continuing Education Indigenous Entrance Awards: Up to $1,000 toward tuition fees. Deadline: August 1, 2024.
  20. Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk: The application period for projects starting in 2025-2026 will open in the fall of 2024.
  21. Creative Export Canada: The $11 million per year will be divided into 2 funding streams: the Export-Ready Stream and the new Export Development Stream. The next intake will be in the winter of 2024.
  22. Alberta Broadband Fund – Stream 2 will support the most remote and hardest to connect households that will not benefit from other broadband expansion projects. Applications will open in 2024.
  23. Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program: The next multi-year funding cycle intake is anticipated for fall 2025. Learn more to help you prepare.
  24. Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program funding – Indigenous organizations: applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2026.
  25. Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Program funding for the Research and Innovation Stream is $50 million. Program ends March 31, 2028.
  26. Supply Management Processing Investment Fund contributes up to $5 million in non-repayable contribution to an organization over the life of the program until March 31, 2028.
  27. Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream: program funding is $50 million over 7 years, with this stream ending March 31, 2028.
  28. Supply Management Processing Investment Fund contributes up to $5 million in non-repayable contribution.
  29. Ecosystem Development Partnerships Program: building Alberta’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and creating competitive advantage through collaboration.
  30. Alberta Scaleup and Growth Accelerator Program helps entrepreneurs bridge the scaleup gap, take their business to new heights and go global.
  31. Circuit Rider Training Program: supported by Indigenous Services Canada with more than $12 million per year. Application is ongoing.
  32. Indigenous Clean Energy – Project Accelerator: $125,000 available to assist with the development of an energy efficiency project. 
  33. African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Prevention and Preparedness Stream: access up to $1M funding. Deadline: November 30, 2024.
  34. African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Welfare Slaughter and Disposal Stream: access up to $1M funding. Deadline: November 30, 2024.
