Description

Lifemark CARES, an innovative program poised to address the pressing needs of underemployed, unemployed, and marginally employed parents in the Edmonton area. This initiative is a direct response to the community’s expressed demand for comprehensive employment support, coupled with solutions to the pervasive childcare obstacles faced by countless families and guardians.

Lifemark’s holistic approach aims to not only facilitate job placement but will also assist working parents to improve their work situation and remove barriers that often impede parents from accessing and maintaining meaningful employment.

Eligible Applicants

You may be eligible for enrollment if you:

  • Are an employment-ready parent and/or guardian to a child that requires childcare
  • Are currently unemployed, underemployed or marginally employed
  • Are a resident of the Edmonton region
  • Are eighteen (18) year of age or older
  • Are legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Face barriers like childcare access, limited skills, transport issues, earn below living wage ($18/hour in Edmonton), work irregular shifts (early mornings, evenings, etc.), and need support to enhance employment.

Eligible Expenses

Programming is customizable, with participants being able to access to 12 to 16 weeks of services, available in-person and virtually. Services include:

  • Career and Employment workshops (on topics related to work and life skills, career and labour market information, resume and cover letter, computer skills, and more)
  • Employment specific certifications available (eg. First aid, safety certifications, software training, etc.)
  • Connection to volunteer opportunities, work experience, and job placement
  • Access to wrap-around services such as kinesiology, psychology, and mental health services
  • Access to innovative services such as Lifemark’s Clothing Closet, Food Pantry, Community Kitchen, Resource Centre, Virtual Career Centre, and more
