Medical First Responder (MFR) Grant | Government of Alberta

Description

The Medical First Responder (MFR) Grant will provide one-time funding to develop new MFR capacity – in other words, new MFR programs – in rural and remote communities, as well as First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities.

MFR agencies are voluntary programs most commonly operated by municipalities through fire departments or local community groups. These agencies allow for quick response to emergencies, providing patient care and assistance until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive.

This grant aims to strengthen the EMS system and improve its overall system capacity and sustainability.

Eligible Applicants

Municipalities, rural and remote communities, as well as First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities – including First Nations, Tribal Councils and Treaty Organizations, Metis Settlements General Council, Metis Settlements, Métis Nation of Alberta, and Indigenous-serving non-profit organizations – who meet the following criteria:

Eligible Expenses

A total of $800,000 in funding is available. A maximum of 16 grants of up to $50,000 are available to communities. Funding can be used for the purchase of new equipment, training for staff and volunteers, and other supports. Staff wages, renovations, vehicles or infrastructure and administration fees are not supported by the grant.

Deadline Date

Applications for the MFR Grant are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is November 5, 2024, by 4 pm.
