Grant season is on.

1. Agriculture

Canada’s Food Innovation Challenge is offering 50% grant funding up to $2 million for collaborative, industry-led, development and innovation projects. LOI until: November 15, 2021.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream. Up to $2 million in grant funding available.

Canada’s Innovation Booster program is offering 50% grant funding up to $100,000 for business development and innovation projects. Funds are extremely limited! Apply now.

Agriculture and Food Sustainability Assurance Initiatives Program: maximum of $250,000 total grant funding available.

Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program (FACTAP): up to $1M funding available. Extended until 2023!

2. Arts and Culture

The Organization Structural Change Grant funds up to $150,000. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until November 30, 2021.

Organization Activation Projects Funding provides a grant to support COVID-19 relaunch and recovery in the arts sector. Deadline: December 1, 2021.

Canada Media Fund (CMF)-Shaw Rocket Fund Kids Digital Animated Series Program: total budget of the Program shall be $3.75 million. Deadline: January 11, 2022.

Culture and Status of Women grants: Check out funding opportunities for projects in the areas of arts, culture, community, heritage, recreation, sport, and diversity and inclusion.


Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program. Deadline: November 20, 2021 with a proposed extension until May 7, 2022.

Hardest Hit Business Recovery Program is open to businesses in all other sectors that have experienced revenue reductions of at least 50%. Deadline: November 20, 2021 with a proposed extension until May 7, 2022.

Calgary REP Business Support Grant with grant amount of up to $2000 per successful applicant. Deadline: November 30, 2021.

Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB). Each household can apply up to a maximum of 42 periods between September 27, 2020 and November 20, 2021.

The government announced an extension to Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP) until May 2022. Learn more:

The Digital Economy Program is designed to help small businesses take their businesses online.

The Government of Canada’s COVID-19 Recovery Fund – CMF Third-Language Allocation 2021-2022 is available to independent television producers. Application period: November 16, 2021 to January 13, 2022.

4. Employment | Varies

The Alberta Jobs Now program second application intake is now open. Apply now before funding expires.

Eco Canada’s Youth in Natural Resources application is now open. Provide up to 80% of wage subsidy.

Youth Employment Program funds up to 80% of a new employee’s wages to a maximum of $30,000. Learn more:

You can get up to $32,000 towards your employees salary and training expenses through Carreer Launcher’s Natural Resources Internships. Learn more:

Youth Employment and Skills Program will contribute up to $14,000 towards hiring employing youth 15-30 years old. Application is first come first served basis.

5. Environment/CleanTech

NRCan provides financial assistance to help fund your industrial facility’s energy management project of up to 50% of eligible costs, to a maximum of $40,000 per facility. Deadline: November 20, 2020.

Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) – Onshore Program available funding: $100K to $50M. Deadline: January 7, 2022.

$55 million in funding for Alberta business to improve efficiency and reduce emissions:

The Energy Futures Youth Seed Fund provides $50,000 to support projects initiated, led, and organized by young people. Round 2 opens December 1. Deadline: February 6, 2021.

6. Export

CanExport Community Investments provides non- repayable contributions range from $3,000 to $500,000. Application deadline for 2022 projects: November 19, 2021.

Access up to $400,000 in annual funding through the CanExport Associations. The 2022-23 application process will be open from November 30, 2021 to January 11, 2022.

Up to $75,000 in funding available for research and development (R&D) through the CanExport for Innovators. Learn more:

7. Indigenous

Nation Rebuilding Program: total funding available is $100 million over 5 years, amounting to $20 million per fiscal year to distribute across the country. Deadline: December 17, 2021.

Indigenous groups and organizations can now apply for grants under the new $154 million Continuing Care Capital Program. Deadline: December 17, 2021.

Civil Society Fund: Maximum funding: $1,000,000 per project. Deadline: December 17, 2021.

Canada Community Revitalization Fund: with a national investment of $500 million over two years. Provides support to build and improve community infrastructure projects. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

First Nation Adapt Program: supports climate change adaptation projects in First Nation communities south of the 60th parallel.

8. Municipalities

Municipalities can apply for funding for projects to develop and maintain local transportation infrastructure through the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP). Deadline: November 30, 2021.

Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program funds projects that enhance watershed resiliency to floods and droughts. Deadline: November 30, 2021.

The Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership (AMWWP) provides cost-shared funding to help build municipal facilities for water supply and treatment, and wastewater treatment and disposal. Deadline: November 30, 2021.

The Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program (SREPs) provides up to $964 million over four years for smart renewable energy and electrical grid modernization projects. Now open.

9. Non-Profit

Organization Activation Projects Funding assists not-for-profit organizations by providing a grant to support COVID-19 relaunch and recovery in the arts sector. Deadline: December 1, 2021.

Civil Society Fund: Maximum funding: $1,000,000 per project. Deadline: December 17, 2021.

Up to a maximum of $100,000 funding available through Stabilize Donation Matching 2.0. Deadline: March 4, 2022 or until all funds awarded. Apply now!

10. Post Secondary | Varies

The Women in STEM Scholarship supports women pursuing careers in STEM. 50 women will receive $2,500 each for their studies. Deadline: December 31, 2021.

Idea to Innovation (I2I) grants provide funding to accelerate the pre-competitive development of promising technology originating from the university and college sector. Next Deadline: January 7, 2022.

Up to $25,000 for up to six months available funding through Up to $25,000 for up to six months.

11. Technology | Varies

New Innovation Networks call: Advancing 5G capabilities and concepts for Defence and Security. Up to $1.5M to stimulate the free flow of ideas critical for innovation. Deadline: December 7, 2021.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is seeking an artificial intelligence (AI) solution to assist in legally accessing encrypted data. Deadline: December 16, 2021.

Corrosion Detection in Ships Sandbox Call for Applications Re-launches. Sign up for an E-Post account by November 30, 2021 in order to make the submission deadline on December 16, 2021.

The Alberta Scaleup and Growth Accelerator Program (Scaleup GAP) will accelerate Alberta’s companies to scale and grow and to propel digital transformation. Learn more:

Alberta Petrochemicals Incentive Program (APIP): Grants worth 12% of a project’s eligible capital costs will be issued to companies after projects are operational. Learn more:

Entries open for The 2022 American Business Awards on October 20. First early-bird entry Deadline: November 17, 2021.

2022 Governor General’s Innovation Awards. Deadline: November 19, 2021.

ENERGY GLOBE Award is to present successful sustainable projects to a global audience and to demonstrate feasible solutions. Deadline 2022 Award: November 23, 2021.

Dieline Awards 2022. Call for entries is now open. This year, DIELINE Awards are offering Early Bird pricing on all entries submitted by December 7, 2021.

AVA Digital Awards: Honoring excellence in digital creativity, branding, and strategy. Deadline: December 16, 2021.

Get Your Nominations in for the Canadian Innovation Awards. Deadline: December 22, 2021.

Entries for the 2022 (20th) American Business Awards. Deadline: February 9, 2022.

14. Government Update

Another massive win for Alberta’s tech sector.

Government of Canada announces over $100M to spur job creation in Alberta and fight climate change.

Alberta’s government is using up to $176 million from the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) system and federal Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund (LCELF).

Extra support for child care operators in Alberta: Alberta’s government is directing almost $35 million in funding to licensed child care programs.

Alberta’s government is investing $2 million over four years in the UCeed Social Impact Fund.

A $2.5-billion investment to build a major petrochemical facility in the Greenview Industrial Gateway.

Alberta’s government is allocating $1 million per year for five years to launch WRaP 2.0.

Minister of Advanced Education Demetrios Nicolaides’ statement Minister of Advanced Education Demetrios Nicolaides.

Alberta’s government is helping everyday Albertans by providing annual funding of $1.25 million for the new 12-week Youth Recovery Program at Hull Services.

Calgary Welcomes Business Accelerator Plug and Play.

Calgary REP Business Support GrantAlberta’s government is partnering with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) and 10 irrigation districts to invest a total of nearly $933 million in irrigation infrastructure.
