1. Agriculture

Women in Ag Grant: Two grants of $10,000 will be awarded. Deadline: July 5, 2023.

Canada-Alberta Bee Colony Replacement Assistance Initiative: compensate eligible commercial beekeepers. Deadline: July 31, 2023.

Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program (FACTAP). Deadline: July 31, 2023.

Rural Communities Foundation: committed to giving $500,000 over five years to improve the sustainability of farmers and ranchers in Alberta. Deadline: August 31, 2023.

CFIN’s FoodTech Next program provides funding up to 50% of total eligible project costs, or $250,000. Expression of Interest Opens: August 1, 2023 until September 6, 2023.

The African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program (ASFIPP) will provide up to $23.4 million over 2 years. Application is now open until November 30, 2023.

Supply Management Processing Investment Fund contributes up to $5 million in non-repayable contribution to an organization over the life of the program until March 31, 2028.

The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) is inviting applications for year two of Canola 4R Advantage. Up to $75,000 funding available. Learn more.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream: The application intake period for the program is open.

Alberta is now accepting applications for the new Agri-processing Investment Tax Credit program.

Emerging Opportunities Program: Maximum grant funding provided by this program is $1,000,000 per fiscal year, to a project maximum of $2,000,000. Apply now.

Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program is a $10 million per year program of non-repayable contribution funding. Intake period is open.

Protein Industries Canada will be investing $30 million into these artificial intelligence projects, benefiting the plant-based and agrifood sector. Send your EOI today.

AgriCommunication Program: up to $8 million federal initiative available. Apply now before funding has been fully committed.

Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) funding is offered on a per-acre payment basis for a term of 3 years. Learn more.

ADVANCED GRANT WRITING COURSE
Welcome to the Advanced Grant Writing Course!

The desired outcome of this course is to learn how to write your high-quality grant application, faster. You will be taught the skills to successfully find grants, meet grant agencies, and write compelling government grant applications that WIN grants.

2. Arts and Culture

Alberta Made Production Grant: The grant covers 25% of eligible Alberta production costs to a maximum of $125,000. Next application intake period: July 2 to 31, 2023.

Support for Eligible Music Companies program provides funding for business development initiatives that support the marketing and promotion. Deadlines: October 26, 2023.

Creative Export Canada provides up to $7M in funding per year to support export-ready projects. Export-Ready Stream’s next intake will be in the Fall of 2023.

Medium to Large-Scale Festivals Program: Deadline: July 24, 2023 for festivals with start dates between April 1, 2024, and September 30, 2024.

Canada History Fund. September 15, 2023 for projects that start during fiscal year April 1, 2024-March 31, 2025.

The Accelerator Partnership Program (A2P) is designed to provide producers of digital media projects. Application is first come, first served. Closing date: February 8, 2024.

Marketing and Promotion for Non-FACTOR-Funded Sound Recordings: up to maximum of $20,000, plus up to $5,000 in additional funding through the Radio Marketing component.

Invent & Adapt 2022 support a wide range of work that is centered on reimagining and retooling an organization’s future with up to $30,000 funding. Apply now!

Legacy Fund – Building Communities through Arts and Heritage: Recipients may receive up to 50 per cent of eligible project expenses up to a maximum of $500,000.

The Film or Video Production Services Tax Credit (PSTC) provides eligible production corporations with a tax credit at a rate of 16 percent. Learn more.

3. COVID

Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative (VCCI): investing up to $50 million. Deadline for the second intake of the inclusive growth stream has been extended to September 20, 2023.

SheaMoisture Dream Fund grant program offers $10,000 to five (5) winners each to black owned business across Beauty and professional services in Canada. Application is now open.

Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: COVID-19 Resilience stream: The maximum size of projects under the stream is set at $10M total eligible costs.

The Jobs and Growth Fund (JGF) is a $700-million federal program to support regional job creation and position local economies for long-term growth.

Work-Sharing Program helps employers and employees avoid lay-offs by providing income support to employees eligible for Employment Insurance benefits.

The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.

The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) is a national program that will provide $250 million over three years to help the Canadian aerospace sector.

The Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) is a two-year, $200-million national fund to help major Canadian festivals survive and adapt to the pandemic.

Recovery support for Canadian arts, culture and heritage organizations through Canada Arts and Culture Recovery Program.

4. Employment | Varies

FIRST JOBS: SCALE-UP is a new program offered by Technology Alberta that continues the momentum of FIRST Jobs to support more companies in a scaled-up way; provides 75% wage subsidy.

BioTalent Canada’s Essential Skills Fundamentals Training Program offers professional development to new talent and enhances an employer’s onboarding program.

EHRC’s Discovering Potential Program: subsidize an internship, a training opportunity, or a combination of both, up to a maximum of $24,000 per participant.

Green Jobs Internship program: subsidize up to a maximum of $30,000 for Indigenous youth, youth living with a disability, youth living in a northern or remote community.

Strengthening the Mining Industry Labour Market: MiHR’s Green Jobs Program provides wage subsidy up to $30,000 for Indigenous Youth, Youth living with a disability, and Northern and Remote Youth.

ECO Canada’s Apprenticeship Service Program: receive up to $10,000 when hiring a self-identified equity deserving first-year apprentice.

Workforce Partnerships grants provide funding to support labour market adjustment strategies and workforce development.

Boost Your Business Technology Grant: wage subsidy of up to $7,300 through the funded work placement.

Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) offers paid postgraduate internships for one-year appointments.

Research Affiliate Program: work part-time as a research affiliate with the Government of Canada, while pursuing your studies. Learn more.

5. Environment/CleanTech

Energy Innovation Program – On-road Transportation Decarbonization Call for Proposals: up to $1.5M for research and development projects and up to $5M for demonstration projects funding available. Deadline: July 20, 2023.

Environmental Damages Fund: fund projects that restore damage to the natural environment and support wildlife conservation, in a cost-effective way. Deadline: July 26, 2023.

Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program – Track 2: Industrial Facility: offers cost-shared financial assistance of up to 50% of eligible implementation costs to a maximum of $10 million per proposal. Deadline: July 31, 2023.

Alberta Land Trust Grant Program helps establish and administer new conservation easements. Applications for funding in 2024 will open spring/summer 2023.

NGIF Industry Grants is now accepting for its second deadline until November 1, 2023. Receive up to $1MM CAD, representing as much as 50% of a project’s qualifying expenses.

Canada Greener Homes Grant: help homeowners save money, create new jobs across Canada for energy advisors and fight climate change. Provides rebate up to $5,000.

Green Freight Program: Stream 1 of the Program is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per applicant. Learn more.

The Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) is now accepting applications under a continuous intake process for Initial Recipient projects.

Low Carbon Economy Challenge: details on who can apply and when the next intake will be launched will be available later in 2023. Stay tuned!

6. Export

New York and Los Angeles retail tech. Deadline: August 23, 2023.

Singapore & Hong Kong Fintech. Deadline: August 23, 2023.

Hong Kong sustainability tech. Deadline: August 23, 2023.

Creative Export Canada provides up to $7M in funding per year to support export-ready projects. Export-Ready Stream’s next intake will be in the Fall of 2023.

Canada Brand is open to export-ready, registered Canadian business entities that have a role in producing, promoting or supporting Canadian agriculture, food or seafood products.

Eurostars is the largest international funding program for SMEs seeking to collaborate on R&D projects projects that create innovative products, processes or services for commercialization.

Alberta Export Expansion Program: provides reimbursement up to 75% on eligible costs.

Alberta Innovates is still accepting new applications for the Export Readiness – Micro Voucher.

Are you ready to go global or explore new markets? The Trade Accelerator Program is your ticket to take your business to the next level.

CIIP – Partnership Development Activities (PDAs): funding up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of $15,000 for approved PDA Projects. Learn open activities and its deadlines.

7. Indigenous

Circuit Rider Training Program: supported by Indigenous Services Canada with more than $12 million per year. Application is ongoing.

Funding for Indigenous-led awareness and education projects for cleaner transportation and clean fuels: continuous intake open until March 31, 2024.

Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program: Access to Business Opportunities: Eligible activities will be reimbursed for 100% of costs, to a maximum of $500,000.

Professional and Institutional Development Program funds projects that develop the capacity of First Nations and Inuit communities to perform core functions of government.

Health Facilities Program provide funding for infrastructure that supports the delivery of health-related programs and services.

First Nations On-Reserve Housing Program helps provide more and better quality housing in First Nations communities in most of Canada.

In partnership with Community Futures Treaty Seven (CFT7), Aboriginal Futures offers a Wage Subsidy program. Learn more.

Indigenous Habitat Participation Program gives Indigenous communities opportunities to participate in the conservation and protection of fish and fish habitat. Learn more.

8. Municipalities

Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund. Deadline: July 19, 2023.

Greener Neighbourhoods Pilot Program Demonstration Projects Call for Proposals: request between $1,000,000 and $10,000,000 funding. Deadline: September 14, 2023.

Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) provides funding to municipalities under 4 funding streams. Application is open until November 30, 2023.

Rural Transit Solutions Fund of the Capital Projects stream: applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $5 million. Application is ongoing.

Public Transit Infrastructure: Eligible municipalities can apply for funding to improve and expand existing public transit systems.

Zero Emission Transit Fund is now accepting applications for both the planning and capital funding streams. Apply now.

Capital project: GHG impact retrofit: Maximum of $5 million per project. Up to 25% as a grant and the remainder as a loan.

Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership: Eligible projects can receive up to 75% of project costs.

Community building recommissioning grant: Grant for a maximum of $55,000 to cover up to 60% of eligible costs.

Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) program supports economic development initiatives in the Prairie provinces.

The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) program promotes and enhances the well-being of Albertans, families and communities.

Municipal Asset Management Program: offer funding, training and resources to help you strengthen your asset management practices.

The Federal Lands Initiative is a $200-million fund that supports the transfer of surplus federal lands and buildings to eligible proponents.

9. Non-Profit

Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP) 2023 Call for Applications is now open and currently accepting applications. Deadline: August 31, 2023.

Alberta Ecotrust Foundation – The 2023 Springboard Grant application intake will open July 17 – September 1, 2023.

Cultural Heritage Initiatives Grant: provides up to $25,000 to eligible organization. First Intake will be September 15, 2023.

The Community Initiatives Program (CIP) provides funding to support initiatives that enhance and enrich communities throughout Alberta. Check the funding streams and their deadlines.

The Alberta government has committed $310 million over 3 years in Budget 2023 for the Continuing Care Capital Program. Learn more.

Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) program provides investments in not-for-profit organizations that support businesses in priority sectors to innovate, grow and compete globally.

Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) program generally provides non-repayable contributions by reimbursing costs that successful applicants have paid.

Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program: The next multi-year funding cycle intake is anticipated for fall 2025. Learn more to help you prepare.

The Legal Aid Program provides contribution funding to the provinces and territories for the delivery of legal aid services for economically disadvantaged persons.

Child care – Space Creation Grant will help enable 42,500 total new non-profit licensed spaces to be created over the next 5 years.

10. Post Secondary | Varies

Mitac’s Elevate proposals now accepted year round. Awards available $60,000 per year.

Continuing Education Indigenous Entrance Awards: supports equitable and inclusive participation in lifelong learning opportunities for Indigenous Peoples. Up to $1,000 toward tuition fees. Deadline: August 1, 2023.

Insight Grants support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. Access up to $400,000 funding. Deadline: October 1, 2023.

NSERC is now accepting applications for Alliance Consortia Quantum grants: up to $1 million funding per year available. Deadline: October 16, 2023.

NSERC-SSHRC Sustainable agriculture research initiative: access up to $2,000,000 funding per year. November 8, 2023 (Full).

NSERC-National Science Foundation – Collaboration on quantum science and artificial intelligence is now open.

Applied Research and Development grants support research and development (R&D) projects led by college researchers in partnership with private, public or not-for-profit organizations. Funding up to $150,000 per year.

Alberta Student Grants: Eligible students receive $425 per month of studies to a maximum of $5,100 per year.

11. Technology | Varies

Bioreactor for 3D bioprinted vessels. Deadline: July 5, 2023.

Single-mode Circuit quantum electrodynamics device for quantum sensing. Deadline: July 12, 2023.

NATO DIANA pilot challenges now open to Canadian innovators. Receive up to $150,000 CAD/ € 100,000 EUR grant funding. Deadline: August 25, 2023.

The ACT Open Call is a funding scheme that can support innovative and international CCUS projects. Application is open throughout 2023 until December 31, 2023.

SDTC provides funding to promising sustainable technology development and demonstration projects that are start-ups or scale-ups. The average contribution is between $2 million and $4 million, with funds disbursed in five years or less.

Product Demonstration Program: Qualified SMEs may be eligible for up to $150,000 in funding over a maximum one-year term.

Mitacs Supports the AI Ecosystem with base funding up to $15,000 per four-month project.

NRC IRAP provide provides funding to support research and development projects at various stages of the innovation cycle.

Scale AI’s Acceleration program: provides up to $50,000 to startup or SME focused on building applied AI products and services for supply chains. Learn more.

Digital Research Infrastructure Strategy to fund up to $375 million to ensure that Canadian researchers have the digital tools they need to support scientific excellence.

Strategic Innovation Fund supports large projects and national innovation ecosystems. Total investment leveraged – $67B.

2023 Till & McCulloch Award: The deadline for nominations is July 28, 2023.

2023 Prix Galien Canada Innovative Product Award. The deadline for the final submission package is August 2, 2023.

Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement: 2024 Nomination cycle is now open until August 11, 2023.

The John Hirsch Prizes recognize the artistic merit and potential of emerging theatre directors. Prize amount: $6,000. Deadline: October 1, 2023.
