1. Agriculture

AgriStability program has reopened for late participation. Alberta producers can sign up until September 29, 2023.

Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program: supports producers to conserve and enhance the environmental resiliency of your agricultural landscapes. Next intake deadline: November 30, 2023.

Farm Technology Program supports the adoption of innovative technology that minimizes agricultural waste and optimizes farm efficiency.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream: program funding is $50 million over 7 years, with this stream ending March 31, 2028.

AgriScience Program:  maximum total funding available to you under the projects component of the program is $10 million over the duration of the program.

Poultry and Egg On-Farm Investment Program: is a reimbursement-basedEndnote1 program that will provide non-repayable contributions of almost $759 million over 10 years.

Farm fuel and rural utility programs: Funding and programs to assist rural Albertans with essential services at a reasonable cost.

AgriAssurance Program – National Industry Association Component: AAFC contribution up to $1 million per year.

Agri-Food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program: provides up to $500,000 per project and up to 75% of total project costs. Application is ongoing.

Matching Investment Fund (MIF) provides non-repayable contributions for product development projects on a matching investment basis.

Water Well Restoration or Replacement Program: Alberta landowners with damaged well can apply for reimbursement of associated costs.

2. Arts and Culture

Artist Development Microgrant: Total funding available for this program is $450,000 ($225,000 per intake). Intake 2 Deadline: September 27, 2023.

Bob Etherington Heritage Conservation Fund support attendance or delivery of training that will develop skills in heritage conservation. Deadline: first working day of October.

CIP Major Cultural and Sport Events grant: maximum funding available is $250,000. Deadline: October 1, 2023.

Edmonton Arts Council’s (EAC) Individuals & Collectives: approximately $2.7 million is budgeted for this program in 2023. Next Deadline: October 3, 2023.

Community Performing Arts Organizations Operating Funding. Deadline: October 2, 2023.

Events & Festivals Fund: The application deadline is October 13, 2023.

Support for Eligible Music Companies program provides funding for business development initiatives. Deadline: October 26, 2023.

Strategic Innovation Fund: Cultivate Grants: Up to $250,000. Deadline: November 15, 2023.

Documentary Heritage Communities Program: Organizations can apply for funding during the annual call for proposals in the fall.

Operating Investments help arts and festival organizations fulfill their arts and festival mandates. Deadline: December 1, 2023.

Programming Grants are flexible and support non-profit arts and festival organizations to undertake specific work in Edmonton. Deadline: December 1, 2023.

The Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) is a two-year, $200-million national fund to help major Canadian festivals survive and adapt to the pandemic.

Recovery support for Canadian arts, culture and heritage organizations through Canada Arts and Culture Recovery Program.

3. Employment | Varies

Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy – Investments in Training Equipment: Up to $5,000,000 per project. Deadline: September 21, 2023.

FIRST Jobs: Fall Cohort is now open. Grants start at $4,000.

Hire a temporary foreign worker through the Recognized Employer Pilot. Phase 1 is now ongoing. Applications for Phase 2 will start in January 2024.

Wildfire special measures for the Work-Sharing Program are now in effect. Apply until November 4, 2023.

The Jobs and Growth Fund (JGF) is a $700-million federal program to support regional job creation and position local economies for long-term growth.

Supportive Care Assistant Program: get up to a $5,000 wage subsidy, and receive 280 to 560 hours of support!

Science Horizon Youth Internship Program covers 80% of wages up to $25K & training.

Environmental Jobs Growth Program: Eligible employers receive up to $18,750 in wage funding.

Colleges & Institutes Canada (CICan) is providing financial incentives up to $10,000 to SMEs in construction and manufacturing to help hire apprentices.

Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage (YCWBCH): benefit from wage subsidies and access a pool of college and university graduates with innovative ideas and competitive skills.

International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers Canadian youth to gain professional experience abroad in the field of international development.

Indigenous Employment Training Partnerships provides grant funding to assist Indigenous individuals to gain the necessary skills training and work experience.

5. Environment/CleanTech

Climate Change Adaptation Program: Up to $15 million in funding may be awarded through this Call for Proposals. Deadline: September 22, 2023.

Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative – Education and awareness project funding – clean transportation and clean fuels is now open until September 26, 2023.

Alberta Innovates’ Hydrogen Centre of Excellence Competition 2: $20-25 million funding available. Deadline: September 26, 2023.

ERA is launching the $25 million Accelerating Hydrogen Challenge to accelerate hydrogen technologies in Alberta. Deadline: September 26, 2023.

2 Billion Trees (2BT) program. Next deadline: October 12, 2023 for a decision by April 2024.

Plastics challenge: Advancing Reuse to Replace Single-Use Plastics. Deadline: October 24, 2023.

NGIF Industry Grants $10MM GlobalCleantechChallenge is accepting applications for its second deadline. Application is until November 1, 2023.

Clean Energy Transition Partnership Joint Call 2023 is now open. EOI submission deadline: November 22, 2023.

Low Carbon Economy Challenge: Applicants may request up to $25 million in funding. accepting applications from October 3, 2023 to January 12, 2024.

Green Construction through Wood (GCWood) Program: application is ongoing until Ongoing until June 30, 2024.

Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) seek to invest in projects that integrate technologies leading to greater energy efficiency and explore bioenergy carbon capture in forest sector operations. Application is ongoing.

5. Export

CanExport SMEs: funding that helps your company grow into global markets. Deadline: September 22, 2023.

Canadian Technology Accelerators – Taipei healthcare technology. Deadline: September 27, 2023.

CanExport Community Investments is now accepting proposals for the 2024-25 year until September 29th, 2023.

Women Exporters Program: application is now open until October 13, 2023. Webinars will be hosted from September 19, 2023 and February 27, 2023.

CTA offers wide-raging opportunities to Canadian FoodTech companies seeking growth in the United States. Deadline: October 25, 2023.

Silicon Valley FinTechSilicon Valley FinTech CTA program will aim to help Canadian FinTech start-ups. Deadline: October 25, 2023.

Canadian Technology Accelerators – Cleantech in Mexico. Deadline: October 25, 2023.

CTA offers new opportunities to scale up your technology company (AI) in India. Deadline: November 22, 2023.

Team Canada Trade Missions in India and Japan: Submit to your application today.

CanExport Associations: The 2024-25 application process for projects taking place between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025, is scheduled to commence in fall 2023.

Creative Export Canada provides up to $7M in funding per year to support export-ready projects. Export-Ready Stream’s next intake will be in the Fall of 2023.

6. Indigenous

New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP): up to $25,000 grant to empower seniors in their communities. Deadline: September 28, 2023.

First Nation Infrastructure Fund (FNIF) helps improve and increase public infrastructure in First Nations. Deadline: Fall of each year.

Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI): receive up to 100% funding of eligible program costs.

Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program funding – Indigenous organizations: NRCan’s contribution is up to a maximum of $2M per project.

Aboriginal Business Investment Fund: funds up to $750,000 to support an Indigenous community-owned economic development project.

Indigenous Reconciliation Initiative – Economic Stream: receive a maximum of $100,000 to support an Indigenous owned economic development project.

Clean Energy Initiatives in Indigenous, rural and remote communities: an additional $300 million is available until 2027 for your clean energy projects.

Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program – Access to Capital: individual Indigenous entrepreneurs may receive up to $99,999 in funding assistance.

The Reserve Land and Environment Management Program (RLEMP): prepare a community for transition to a more comprehensive land management model.

Emergency Management Non-Structural Mitigation and Preparedness program: provides funding to build resiliency and prepare for natural hazards.

Professional and Institutional Development Program: funds projects that develop the capacity of First Nations and Inuit communities to perform core functions of government.

Community Opportunity Readiness program provides funding up to $3 million for community economic infrastructure proposals.

Health Facilities Program:  provide funding for infrastructure that supports the delivery of health-related programs and services.

7. Municipalities

Climate Change Adaptation Program: Up to $15 million in funding may be awarded through this Call for Proposals. Deadline: September 22, 2023.

Alberta Innovates’ Hydrogen Centre of Excellence Competition 2: $20-25 million funding available. Deadline: September 26, 2023.

Alberta Community Partnership – Municipal Internship: provide funding to recruit, train and retain competent municipal employees. Deadline: October 1, 2023.

Alberta Community Partnership – Intermunicipal collaboration: provide funding develop regional plans, service delivery frameworks and regional service delivery efficiencies. Deadline: October 2, 2023.

Rural Development & Promotion Fund supports tourism organizations in destination development and promotion initiatives with up to $100,000. Application is now opens until October 13, 2023.

Affordable Housing Partnership Program. Deadline: October 16, 2023.

Green Freight Program – Stream 2 – Repower and Replace: funding incentives up to $5M per project are now available. Deadline: November 16, 2023.

Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) provides funding to municipalities under 4 funding streams. Application is open until November 30, 2023.

Resource Road Program provides funding to municipalities for roads used by new and existing industries. Deadline: November 30, 2023 for funding in the following year.

Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) in the Prairie provinces: provides non-repayable contributions by reimbursing costs that successful applicants have paid.

Community building monitoring and analysis grant: Grant for a maximum of $25,000 to cover up to 80% of eligible costs.

8. Non-Profit

Edmonton Edge Fund supports businesses in their efforts to start, scale and grow in Edmonton. EOI Deadline: September 18, 2023.

New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP): up to $25,000 grant to empower seniors in their communities. Deadline: September 28, 2023.

Enabling Accessibility Fund for Youth Innovation Projects: grants up to $10,000. Deadline: October 10, 2023.

Outreach Initiative grants and contributions program provides grant funding to support variety of science- or innovation-based initiatives or projects. Application now open until October 10, 2023.

Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Concept Development. Deadlines: Window # 1: October 12, 2023; Window # 2: April 15, 2024.

Specialized Criminal Justice Navigator (SCJN) grants will fund positions to help guide victims of crime through the criminal justice system. Deadline: October 15, 2023.

Continuing Care Capital Program – Small Care Home Stream  provide capital funding to support the development of standalone homes. Deadline: November 30, 2023.

Alberta Ecotrust Foundation’s Environmental Grants: to open mid-December for the 2024 intake. Stay tuned.

Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) program generally provides non-repayable contributions by reimbursing costs that successful applicants have paid.

Canada Life – Stronger Communities Together: Supporting charitable organizations and initiatives across the country is one of the ways Canada life gives back to Canadians.

Child care – Space Creation Grant will help enable 42,500 total new non-profit licensed spaces to be created over the next 5 years.

The Legal Aid Program provides contribution funding to the provinces and territories for the delivery of legal aid services for economically disadvantaged persons.

9. Post Secondary | Varies

Insight Grants support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. Access up to $400,000 funding. Deadline: October 1, 2023.

John R. Evans Leaders Fund: funds up to $800,000, depending on your share of tri-agency funding. Next deadline: October 15, 2023.

NSERC is now accepting applications for Alliance Consortia Quantum grants: up to $1 million funding per year available. Deadline: October 16, 2023.

Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA): receive a $6,000 award to conduct a 12 to 24-week research project. Professors can submit projects by November 17, 2023.

NSERC Alliance – Alberta Innovates Advance Program 2023 – 2024 is now open. request up to $150,000 per year and can be for up to two years in duration.

Mitacs Elevate includes a research management training program and a postdoctoral fellowship. Your partner organization’s financial contribution starts at $30,000 per year.

Partnership Engage Grants: provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities with up to  $25,000 funding.

NSERC Alliance Grants support research projects with up to $1 million per year for 5 years. Application is ongoing.

Summer Research Studentships: The award is meant to encourage students to consider pursuing formal training and a career in health research.

NSERC-National Science Foundation – Collaboration on quantum science and artificial intelligence: application is ongoing.

Applied Research and Development grants: funds up to $150,000 per year up to 3 years.

10. Technology | Varies

Supply Chain Verifiable Digital Credentials Challenge. Deadline: September 21, 2023.

Supply chain verifiable digital credentials challenge aims to achieve full end-to-end transparency of goods and help prevent supply chain fraud. Deadline: September 26, 2023.

High-Altitude Platform System (HAPS) for Ultra-Long-Range (ULR) wireless backhaul Challenge. Deadline: September 28, 2023.

Collaboration innovation hub challenge will address missing operational capabilities for Shared Services Canada (SSC) and other departments and organizations. Deadline: September 28, 2023.

Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative (VCCI): investing up to $50 million. Deadline for the second intake of the inclusive growth stream has been extended to September 20, 2023.

Innovative Solutions Canada – Testing Stream is now open. Eligible innovators can receive up to $2.3M. Deadline: October 3, 2023.

Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Concept Development. Deadlines: Window # 1: October 12, 2023; Window # 2: April 15, 2024.

SXSW Pitch 2024: Application is now open until November 12, 2023.

The ACT Open Call is a funding scheme that can support innovative and international CCUS projects. Application is open throughout 2023 until December 31, 2023.

The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.

Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF): minimum amount is $10 million for a project with at least $20 million in total eligible supported costs.

As part of the Alberta Broadband Strategy, the Government of Alberta have committed $36 million to the Alberta Broadband Fund (ABF). Stay tuned for Intake 2 launching in 2023.

The Artificial Intelligence for Design (AI for Design) Challenge program develops and provides AI technologies and capabilities to accelerate discovery, R&D, and innovation processes.

International Technology Partnership Program: provides up to  $250,000 in funding over a maximum eighteen month term.

Alberta Digital Traction is a funding program of up to $50,000 for small-and medium-sized Alberta enterprises (SMEs). Application is ongoing.

Strategic Networking and Development Grants: accept applications for support of up to $25,000 per project.

Get up to $15,000 to boost your business technology through Canada Digital Adoption Program – Boost Your Business Technology Grant.

Digital Research Infrastructure Strategy to fund up to $375 million to ensure that Canadian researchers have the digital tools they need to support scientific excellence.

Trash to treasure: Technologies for circular plastics. Date: September 26, 2023.

Alberta Power Symposium: learn about plans for transitioning to low emissions resources. Date: September 27-28, 2023.

12. Business Award Deadlines

The John Hirsch Prizes recognize the artistic merit and potential of emerging theatre directors. Prize amount: $6,000. Deadline: October 1, 2023.

2023 Wilson Loree Nomination is now open. Deadline: October 6, 2023.

Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month – Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month. Deadline: October 31, 2023.

Nominate a Powerful Woman. Nominations submitted after November 1 will be held for the following year.

2024 Innovation Awards Application: Deadline: November 12, 2023.

Nominations for the 2023 Minister’s Seniors Service Awards are officially open until November 15, 2023.

Alberta’s government is investing $5 million to increase access to specialized supports and services to maintain an inclusive learning environment at the University of Calgary.

Alberta’s government is investing $5 million in planning funding for a new Multidisciplinary Science Hub that will support student and economic growth and success.

Almost $3 million is being provided to increase wages for front-line workers supporting individuals with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

Artificial intelligence, and the surprising ways it can help the agrifood sector.

Alberta’s government is accepting applications from operators able to offer additional shelter spaces.

Supporting victims of crime every step of the way.

Minister Boissonnault announces federal investments to support business growth and job creation in Edmonton region.

Alberta Innovates invests $13.6 million to strengthen Alberta’s technology sector.
