A number of grant deadlines, grant events, and business awards are below.
  • The technology section has several grants open – up to $300 million in funding available.
  • The Employment section grants are jam packed! Check below.

1. Agriculture

RDAR Call for Proposals: Drought and Extreme Heat Funding Opportunity: Funding up to $150,000/project is available.

Emerging Opportunities: Maximum grant funding provided by this program is $500,000 per fiscal year.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream. Up to $2 million in grant funding available.

AgriCommunication Program: Up to 70% of total eligible costs. Application is ongoing basis until September 30, 2023 or until funding has been fully committed.

AgriScience Program – Projects Components aims to help overcome challenges and address fiscal barriers experienced by small and emerging sectors. Application is ongoing.

Poultry and Egg On-Farm Investment Program will provide non-repayable contributions of almost $647 million over 10 years. The project activities must be completed by March 31, 2031.

2. Arts and Culture

Community Support Organizations Operating Funding provides funding to eligible organizations that provide arts programs and services to communities. Deadline: March 1, 2022.

Dance Individual Project Funding:  awards up to $15,000 for a specific dance project. Deadline: March 1, 2022.

Project Grant Program – Individuals and Collectives with total funding available up to $1,600,000. Deadline: April 19, 2022.

The Co-productions component of Arts Abroad: Up to 50% of eligible costs, to a maximum of $50 000 available funding. Deadline: April 27, 2022.

Market Access Strategy for Official Language Minority Communities (OLMC) Fund provides up to $60 000. Submit your application any time before the start date of your project or activity.

3. COVID

Making Cultural Spaces Safe During COVID-19 Initiative. Open for projects to be carried out before March 31, 2022.

The Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP) has been extended to May 7, 2022.

U.S. Mission to Canada Funding Opportunities: Combatting COVID-19 Grant Program with up to $100,00 grant available. Deadline: July 6, 2022.

Restrictions Exemption Program – Safety training: provide $1 million in grant funding to support Alberta workers.

Restrictions Exemption Program Implementation Grant: provides $2,000 for eligible small- and medium-sized organizations.

Work-Sharing Program: special measures for employers affected by the downturn in business related to COVID-19 effective March 15, 2020 to September 24, 2022.

COVID-19 wage and hiring support for businesses: enable you to re-hire workers, help prevent further job losses, and ease your business back into normal operations.

COVID-19 rent and property expense support for businesses: you may be eligible for a subsidy to cover part of your commercial rent or property expenses.

Indigenous Community Business Fund: access funding to support their community-owned businesses whose revenues have been affected by COVID-19.

NSERC Alliance COVID-19 grants: up to $50,000 for one-year projects is being made available immediately.

The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.

Stay tuned to the third intake of the Alberta Jobs Now program: up to $370 million funding assistance. 

4. Employment | Varies

First Nations and Inuit Skills Link Program: helps First Nations and Inuit youth acquire essential employment skills Deadline: February 7, 2022.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Digital Subsidy. up to $7,500 wage subsidy. Winter Term is open. Deadline to apply is February 2022.

Accessibility Work Experience Program: Receive a wage subsidy between $12.50/hour and $15/hour for a four-to-six-month position. Deadline: March 31, 2022.

Strive 4 Work: Selected participants will receive a living allowance of $15/hr for the 25 hrs/wk while attending the 8 weeks of skills training. Apply now! Program Starts April 4, 2022.

The FREE government funded Self Employment Training Program offered at Microbusiness Training Centre could be an amazing opportunity. March 21st-2022 is the date of the next SE class.

The Youth Internship Incentive Program provides up to $3,600 incentive. Check here to learn more.

The 2021-22 Campus Alberta Small Business Engagement (CASBE) program is now open for new applications. maximum of $150,000 in available funding from Alberta Innovates.

Environmental Employability Pathways: Funding Up to 100% of a Salary Up to a Maximum of $15,000.

The Skilled Newcomer Internship program contributes 75% up to $20,000 in grant funding towards the cost  (e.g. wages, accommodation, training) of hiring a new immigrant to Canada.

The Canadian Environmental Employability Pathways will contribute 100% up to $15,000 towards the wages of an intern for 12 weeks. There is limited funding so apply now!

5. Environment/CleanTech

The 2 Billion Trees (2BT) program: up to $3.2 billion will be invested in tree planting efforts. The current, inaugural deadline is Feb. 17, 2022.

Mining Cleantech Challenge: a market-driven innovation showcase. Deadline: March 4, 2022.

Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative: maximum of $25,000 per eligible fast charger fast-charging stations. Program ends on March 31, 2022.

Baseline and Reduction Opportunity (BRO) Assessment Program.  There is a maximum incentive amount of $200,000 per operator. Deadline: June 30, 2022.

The Alberta Methane Emissions Program (AMEP) is a three-year $17.6 million funding program to support Alberta’s methane emissions reduction efforts.

Alberta Innovates Clean Technology program invests in projects to adapt, develop and deploy innovative projects to contribute to the growth of low carbon economy. Deadline: Ongoing.

6. Export

Future of Healthcare using Artificial Intelligence Mission to France. Interested companies must apply no later than February 18, 2022.

Eurostars: It’s time to grow your innovative SME. Deadline: March 24, 2022. https://www.eurekanetwork.org/countries/canada/eurostars/

CanExport SMEs: access up to $50,000 in funding to assist with international market development activities.

Export Readiness – Micro Vouchers: with up to $20,000 funding to build and develop a strategic approach for expansion globally. Set to end on May 1, 2023 or when all funds are disbursed.

CanExport Innovation is still accepting new applications. Up to $75,000 in funding available.

7. Indigenous

Investment Readiness Program – Stream 2: Ecosystem builder (Round 2): The total grants and contributions funding envelope for the IRP is $45,815,426. Deadline: February 18, 2022.

Expressions of Interest are now being accepted for the Family and Community Support Services Program. Deadline: February 20, 2022.

The CFEP Large Funding stream is for projects requesting over $125,001 and up to $1 million. annual intake of June 15.

Indigenous Community Business Fund: access funding to support their community-owned businesses whose revenues have been affected by COVID-19.

The Indigenous Housing Capital Program (IHCP) will increase the supply of affordable housing units for Indigenous peoples in need through construction (including additions/extensions), purchase and repurpose.

Canada Community Revitalization Fund: with a national investment of $500 million over two years. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

8. Municipalities

Investment Readiness Program – Stream 2: Ecosystem builder (Round 2): The total grants and contributions funding envelope for the IRP is $45,815,426. Deadline: February 18, 2022.

Sustainable Affordable Housing – Green Municipal Fund: Pilot Projects: $300 million initiative available. Deadline: February 28, 2022.

Electric Vehicle Charging Program offers $3.4 million in rebates for municipalities to build electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Community Building Recommissioning Grant: Grant for a maximum of $55,000 to cover up to 60% of eligible costs.

Smart Cities Challenge encourages communities to adopt a smart cities approach to improve the lives of their residents through innovation, data and connected technology.

Canada Community Revitalization Fund provides support to build and improve community infrastructure projects with up to $750,000 funding per project available. Deadline: March 31, 2023.

9. Non-Profit

2022 Community Investment Operating Grant is available and open for applications. is now open for applications. Deadline: February 16, 2022.

Investment Readiness Program – Stream 2: Ecosystem builder (Round 2): The total grants and contributions funding envelope for the IRP is $45,815,426. Deadline: February 18, 2022.

WES Ecosystem Fund:  $25 million is allocated to support new projects that are focused on responding to systemic barriers and gaps for diverse, intersectional and/or under-served women. Deadline: March 15, 2022.

Affordable Housing Investment Program: Funding of up to 25% of total construction cost. Applications are being accepted between January 10 and April 13, 2022.

The Community Initiatives Program (CIP), Project-Based grant stream supports projects that enhance and enrich communities throughout Alberta by providing assistance to non-profit organizations. Next Deadline: May 15, 2022.

The CFEP Large Funding stream is for projects requesting over $125,001 and up to $1 million. annual intake of June 15.

Up to a maximum of $100,000 funding available through Stabilize Donation Matching 2.0. Deadline: March 4, 2022 or until all funds awarded. Apply now!

10. Post Secondary | Varies

The CFEP Large Funding stream is for projects requesting over $125,001 and up to $1 million. annual intake of June 15.

College Fund: Colleges can submit proposals with total CFI requests between $60,000 and $1 million. Deadline: Notices of intent must be submitted on April 7, 2022.

The Rural Education Supplement and Integrated Doctor Experience (RESIDE) program will provide $2 million to 20 new family physicians in each of the next three years.

2023 Innovation Fund competition launched. February 23, 2022, is the deadline to submit notices of intent.

Alliance International: provides $25,000 (Catalyst grants) up to $100,000 per year (Collaboration grants).

NSERC Alliance COVID-19 grants: up to $50,000 for one-year projects is being made available immediately.

Exceptional Opportunities Fund  will fund a maximum of 40 percent of the total eligible costs of the infrastructure project.

11. Technology | Varies

Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge: Provides $1,000,000 USD in prize money for  economic development and/or solve social or environmental problems. Deadline: February 11, 2022.

The Afri-Plastics Challenge Strand 3 Promoting Change: Finalist will receive a grant of £50,000 to support in the development and validation of their solutions. Deadline: February 16, 2022.

New funding for quantum prototypes: Compete for up to $550k in funding to get your prototype tested! Submit your proposal before February 24th, 2022.

Green Building Technology Showcase – an opportunity to showcase your innovative technology and gain valuable exposure. Deadline: February 23, 2022.

Inventures Startup Pitch Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their product or service. Deadline: February 25, 2022.

Site Rehabilitation Program – up to $300 million in funding available. Deadline: 4th – 8th application period: March 31, 2022.

Alberta Digital Traction Pilot Program: up to $50,000 for small-and medium-sized Alberta enterprises (SMEs). The next round will launch mid April 2022.

Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems Sandbox 2022: maximum share provided by DND/CAF to Participants is $12,000 or 50% of eligible expenses. Deadline: April 13, 2022.

The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) will help the Canadian aerospace sector with a total budget of $250 million over 3 years (until March 31, 2024).

The Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF): Request a minimum SIF contribution of $10 million for a proposal with total costs of at least $20 million.
