A number of grant deadlines, grant events, and business awards are below.

1. Agriculture

Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program (FACTAP):  fund up to 75%, maximum of $1.0 million per year. Deadline: February 28, 2022.

Canada’s Innovation Booster program is offering up to $100,000 grant funding for business development and innovation projects. Next Intake Begins March 4, 2022.

Canadian Agriculture Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) is a $10 million per year program of non-repayable contribution funding. Deadline: First come, first serve.

Agriculture and Food Sustainability Assurance Initiatives Program: maximum of $250,000 total grant funding available.

Emerging Opportunities: Maximum grant funding provided by this program is $500,000 per fiscal year.

2. Arts and Culture

Heritage programs and activities will open in the first working day of February. Application until February 28, 2022.

Alberta Project Script Development Grant: you ma apply up to $55,000 per project. Deadline: March 1, 2022.

Community Support Organizations Operating Funding: support your organization’s operations. Deadline: March 1, 2022.

Project Accelerator Grant: up to  $10,000 grants for small-scale heritage projects in Edmonton. Deadline: March 4, 2022.

Project Grant Program – Individuals and Collectives with total funding available up to $1,600,000. Deadline: April 19, 2022.

The Co-productions component of Arts Abroad: Up to 50% of eligible costs, to a maximum of $50 000 available funding. Deadline: April 27, 2022.

Market Access Strategy for Official Language Minority Communities (OLMC) Fund provides up to $60 000. Application is ongoing.

Culture and Status of Women grants: Check out funding opportunities for projects in the areas of arts, culture, community, heritage, recreation, sport, and diversity and inclusion. https://www.alberta.ca/culture-and-status-of-women-grants.aspx

3. COVID

Making Cultural Spaces Safe During COVID-19 Initiative. Open for projects to be carried out before March 31, 2022.

The Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP) has been extended to May 7, 2022.

U.S. Mission to Canada Funding Opportunities: Combatting COVID-19 Grant Program with up to $100,00 grant available. Deadline: July 6, 2022.

Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) in the Prairie provinces has a national budget of $200 million over 2 years.

Restrictions Exemption Program – Safety training: provide $1 million in grant funding to support Alberta workers.

Restrictions Exemption Program Implementation Grant: provides $2,000 for eligible small- and medium-sized organizations.

Work-Sharing Program: special measures for employers affected by the downturn in business related to COVID-19 effective March 15, 2020 to September 24, 2022.

COVID-19 wage and hiring support for businesses: enable you to re-hire workers, help prevent further job losses, and ease your business back into normal operations.

COVID-19 rent and property expense support for businesses: you may be eligible for a subsidy to cover part of your commercial rent or property expenses.

Indigenous Community Business Fund: access funding to support their community-owned businesses whose revenues have been affected by COVID-19.

NSERC Alliance COVID-19 grants: up to $50,000 for one-year projects is being made available immediately.

The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.

Third intake of the Alberta Jobs Now program: up to $370 million funding assistance to be announced at a later date. Stay tuned!

4. Employment | Varies

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Digital Subsidy. up to $7,500 wage subsidy. Winter Term is open. Deadline to apply is February 2022.

Accessibility Work Experience Program: Receive a wage subsidy between $12.50/hour and $15/hour for a four-to-six-month position. Deadline: March 31, 2022.

Strive 4 Work: Selected participants will receive a living allowance of $15/hr for the 25 hrs/wk while attending the 8 weeks of skills training. Apply now! Program Starts April 4, 2022.

Microbusiness Training Centre offers FREE government funded Self Employment Training Program. March 21st-2022 is the date of the next SE class.

Workforce Partnerships grants: 2022-23 Expressions of Interest application period will open late summer to early fall 2022.

The Jobs and Growth Fund (JGF) is a $700-million federal program to support regional job creation and position local economies for long-term growth.

Youth Employment Program funds up to $30,000 wages per employee.

Mitacs provides assistance to Canadian businesses who have ambitious innovation plans. Up to $15,000 awards available.

Youth Employment and Skills Strategy – Funding programs: committed to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment.

Commercialization Associates: up to $105,000 per year for level 3 option.

5. Environment/CleanTech

Carbon Capture Kickstart: Design and Engineering call: ERA’s new $30 million funding opportunity. Deadline: March 3, 2022.

Mining Cleantech Challenge: a market-driven innovation showcase. Deadline: March 4, 2022.

Canada’s Low Carbon Economy Challenge Champion stream advertises 25% non-repayable funding up to $25 million. Expressions of Interest must be submitted by March 25, 2022.

The revised third intake period of the Onshore Program – Emissions Reduction Fund is now open. Deadline: March 31, 2022.

You can still apply for Offshore Deployment Program – Emissions Reduction Fund. Apply now before all funding allocated by March 31, 2022.

Green and Inclusive Community Buildings will provide up to $25 million funding for eligible projects.

Canada Greener Homes Grant: up to 700,000 grants to help homeowners make energy efficient retrofits to their homes.

6. Export

Silicon Valley digital – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: February 23, 2022.

Taipei digital technologies – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: February 23, 2022.

Boston/Cambridge tech and life sciences – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: February 23, 2022.

Eurostars: It’s time to grow your innovative SME. Deadline: March 24, 2022.

Hong Kong property tech – Canadian Technology Accelerator. Deadline: April 13, 2022.

Canada – Israel 2022-23 collaborative industrial research and development call for proposals. Registration Deadline:  May 6, 2022.

7. Indigenous

The Project Grant program supports projects of research in all areas of health. Registration deadline: February 16, 2022. Application deadline: March 16, 2022.

Indigenous Arts Individual Project Funding: provides up to $15,000 to support the development of indigenous artists in Alberta. Deadline: March 1, 2022.

Site Rehabilitation Program: up to $300 million in funding available. Deadline: 4th – 8th application period: March 31, 2022.

Community Facility Enhancement Program provides financial assistance to acquire, build, purchase, repair, renovate, upgrade or expand sports, recreational, cultural or other related public-use community facilities. Small Funding Stream: May 15. Large Funding Stream: June 15.

Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative: Indigenous applicants and organizations  may be eligible to receive program funding of up to 100% of eligible program costs.

Indigenous Justice Strategy Engagement Funding: Up to $500,000 is available per project for up to 25 months.

The Indigenous Peoples Resilience Fund (IPRF) is an Indigenous-led effort to respond to urgent community needs while taking a long-term view on building community resilience.

8. Municipalities

Sustainable Affordable Housing – Green Municipal Fund: Pilot Projects: $300 million initiative available. Deadline: February 28, 2022.

The revised third intake period of the Emissions Reduction Fund – Onshore Program is now open. Deadline: March 31, 2022.

Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program (SREPs) provides up to $964 million over four years. Application now open!

Community building recommissioning grant: Community building recommissioning grant.

Two new immigration streams will help rural communities grow by attracting skilled newcomers. Chere here.

9. Non-Profit

WES Ecosystem Fund:  $25 million is allocated to support new projects that are focused on responding to systemic barriers. Deadline: March 15, 2022.

Affordable Housing Investment Program: Funding of up to 25% of total construction cost. Applications are being accepted between January 10 and April 13, 2022.

The Community Initiatives Program (CIP), Project-Based grant stream: maximum funding available is $75,000.

Stabilize Donation Matching 2.0: supports up to a maximum of $100,000 funding. Deadline: March 4, 2022 or until all funds awarded. Apply now!

Canada Post Community Foundation provides grants to Canadian schools, charities and community organizations. Deadline: March 31, 2022.

Mitacs provides assistance to Canadian businesses who have ambitious innovation plans. Up to $15,000 awards available.

10. Post Secondary | Varies

2023 Innovation Fund competition launched. February 23, 2022, is the deadline to submit notices of intent.

College Fund: Colleges can submit proposals with total CFI requests between $60,000 and $1 million. Deadline: Notices of intent must be submitted on April 7, 2022.

Alliance grants: $20,000 to $1 million per year. Apply now!

NSERC Alliance – Alberta Innovates Advance Program: up to $150,000 per year can be requested up to two years.

U.S. Mission to Canada Funding Opportunities with up to USD$100,000 funding over 1 year. Learn more.

11. Technology | Varies

Green Building Technology Showcase – an opportunity to showcase your innovative technology and gain valuable exposure. Deadline: February 23, 2022.

CIHR is pleased to announce the launch of the Project Grant: Spring 2022 competition. Deadline: March 16, 2022.

Inventures Startup Pitch Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their product or service. Deadline: February 25, 2022.

AGE-WELL: AgeTech Implementation Response (AIR) Program: Up to $50,000 per project available grant. Deadline: March 18, 2022.

Industrial Energy Efficiency, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage: with remaining $31 million funding to be allocated to support more projects. Apply now.

14. Government Update

A $1.53-million investment under the Workforce Partnerships program will support 16 projects.

Alberta’s government has invested $6.5 million to provide additional career and employment services to support underserved Albertans.

Bold leadership to advance Canada’s innovation needs.

Government of Canada announced that Alberta projects attracted over $41 million in funding from the Rapid Response Stream of the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF).

Google Canada announces $1.5 million contribution to Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business to create growth opportunities for Indigenous Businesses and Entrepreneurs.

Alberta’s government is giving a $485,000 community grant to the Calgary Centre for Newcomers to help upgrade its facility into a sustainable community hub.

The Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation (AIOC) is expanding its mandate to create additional opportunities for Indigenous investment.

Advanced Education is investing $2.5 million to help encourage change and safety in campus communities.

Business grants up to $25,000 are now supporting 64 innovative projects at live venues to help Alberta’s music industry adapt and recover during COVID.

Alberta’s government will invest $1.9 million to support skills development training for women’s success in the IT sector.

The Government of Canada will investment roughly $535,000 to support Flowers Canada Growers (FCG) in their efforts to further improve Canada’s floriculture industry.
