Artist in Residence – Artists | ArtsNB

Description

The Artist in Residence programs for artists are designed to:

  • Increase opportunities for New Brunswick professional artists to participate in residencies in New Brunswick or elsewhere; and
  • Facilitate creation, creative research, and/or networking opportunities, as well as encouraging artists’ contact with the clientele of the host institution or organization.

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for artsnb funding, an applicant must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, have an affiliation with a First Nation on Turtle Island, be a permanent resident of Canada or have an application for permanent resident in process;
  • Have resided in New Brunswick for at least one year (12 months) prior to the application deadline;
  • Must qualify as a professional artist according to the guidelines in Appendix 1: artsnb Definition of a Professional Artist.
  • Have submitted all relevant Final Reports (if applicable).

Eligible Expenses

Eligible expenses include but are not limited to:

  • Subsistence or artist fees for the artist(s) participating in the residency, including artistic collaborators. artsnb recommends budgeting up to $2,500 per month in subsistence;
  • Materials and services including but not limited to consumable materials, space rental, equipment rental, professional services, recording and production costs, commissions and purchase of rights;
  • Transportation, travel, and accommodation costs directly related to the completion of the proposed residency. Applicants may consult the government of New Brunswick’s Travel Expenses Policy;
    • Transportation includes costs for bus, plane, train, taxis, or travel in a personal vehicle; tolls and parking; and freight or cargo expenses.
    • Accommodation for the length of the residency and/or to and from the residency location.
    • Note: If the host organization provides housing, this must be disclosed as an in-kind contribution in the project budget.

All expenses must directly relevant to the completion of the residency.
