Arts – Professional Artists – Artists In School Program (Anglophone Sector) | Government of New Brunswick

Description

The Artists in Schools Program aims to encourage learners to express themselves and actively take part in the creative process of an arts project with a professional New Brunswick artist that responds to curricular outcomes. This program replaces the previous ArtsSmarts and Artist-in-Residency School Programs.

Eligible Applicants

Schools in Anglophone districts are eligible to apply to the program by initiating a project together with a professional artist(s) in any but not limited to the following artistic disciplines; Music, dance, theatre arts, literature (playwriting, storytelling), plastic arts and media arts such as film and video.

Eligible Expenses

Artist visits can be done either virtually or face-to-face. Educators are encouraged to work with local artists and/or use virtual meetings to minimize transportation costs. In exceptional circumstances, Transportation/Accommodation budget may exceed 10% of overall budget.

Eligible artist expenses include:

  • Planning session with educator(s) – $75 per hour to a maximum of 15% of overall budget
  • Teaching session with learners – $95 per hour
  • Transportation/Accommodation – maximum of 10% of overall budget. Note: Mileage is at a rate of $0.50/KM.

Deadline Date

This program is now known as the Creative Arts Grant Program (formerly the Artists In Schools Program) and is offered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Schools interested in applying should contact Andrea Gaujacq at Andrea.Gaujacq@gnb.ca for information on how to apply. There are no publicly listed application deadlines; the process is managed through direct contact with the program area.
