Component A: maximum of $5,000 per project. Component B: maximum of $50,000.

Description

The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture’s (the department) Built Heritage Program provides funding towards conservation-based projects that support the continued use of heritage places while maintaining the location’s unique heritage value. Built Heritage includes heritage buildings, structures, and landscapes.

Eligible Applicants

Built heritage conservation projects that that are (1) owned or subject to a long-term lease agreement by an eligible applicant, and (2) where the project location is designated as one of the following:

  • Provincial Heritage Place;
  • Municipal Heritage Conservation Area or part thereof; or
  • Local Historic Place;
    Or
  • A place that can be shown to have significant community heritage value

 

Applicants must be a:

  • Not-for-profit organization
  • Local Government if the place is a (1) publicly accessible heritage place and is (2) administered by an appointed not-for-profit custodial group or committee. Note: village, town or city halls or equivalent are not eligible for program funding.

Eligible Expenses

THE PROGRAM HAS TWO COMPONENTS:

  • Component A provides funding for conservation related services and expertise, such as specialized design and engineering. The department may contribute up to 75% of costs to a maximum of $5,000 per project.
  • Component B provides funding for conservation related capital expenditures such as repairs and renovations deemed necessary for preservation, rehabilitation, and restoration. The department may contribute up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of $50,000 towards the conservation related aspects per project.

Deadline Date

Open and closes. Application forms must be submitted by April 1 or September 7.
