Call for Proposals – New Brunswick Day 2026

Description

Communities are invited to submit proposals to host this year’s official New Brunswick Day celebrations, with $30,000 in funding available from the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture to support the event.

Celebrate New Brunswick Day with us on Monday, August 3.

 

Eligible Applicants

  • The community may propose a celebration in either official language, or a bilingual celebration.
  • The community must offer programming that is accessible to the general public (all ages), including physical accessibility measures and, where required, interpretation services for individuals with hearing impairments during speeches.
  • The event must include local New Brunswick artists, vendors, and/or suppliers.
  • The programming should reflect, as much as possible, the cultural diversity of the community and of the province.
  • The community must provide a contingency plan in the event of inclement weather.
  • Preferred hours: activities beginning around noon and continuing into the evening (ending between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.).
  • The community must demonstrate a reasonable capacity to organize and coordinate the event (logistics, security, volunteers, etc.).
  • The celebrations must include recognition of official New Brunswick Day symbols or messages (e.g., flag, recognition of the day in speeches).

Eligible Expenses

Regional representation, in order to ensure a balanced distribution across the province.

  • Particular attention will be given to regional representation to ensure balanced distribution of official celebrations throughout the province.

Quality, diversity, and feasibility of the proposed programming.

  • The clarity, variety, and coherence of the proposed programming, as well as its alignment with the spirit of New Brunswick Day.

Event reach and public participation.

  • The event’s ability to attract a broad audience, including residents of surrounding communities.

Showcasing local professional artists and suppliers.

  • The extent to which the programming highlights New Brunswick‑based artists, artisans, producers, and professional suppliers.

Demonstrated organizational capacity.

  • The realism of the project given the proposed resources, demonstrated experience, and local partnerships.

Deadline Date

The deadline to apply is June 11, the host community will be announced no later than June 25.
