Cleantech Momentum Program │ New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF)

February 27, 2026

Value

Non-dilutive, non-payable grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000.

Description

The Cleantech Momentum Program supports innovative projects at New Brunswick startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Designed to meet companies at different stages of development, these grants help accelerate the commercialization of technologies with emissions-reduction potential—advancing innovations that can be implemented within local operations and scaled for export to broader markets.

Eligible Applicants

The program is open to New Brunswick-based small and medium-sized businesses with less than 500 employees. Businesses should be either incorporated in New Brunswick, or nationally incorporated but with significant operations in New Brunswick. Companies should have demonstrated revenue in the previous fiscal year.

Proposed projects must:

  • Demonstrate innovation, either through new technology or novel applications of existing technology.
  • Focus on advancing technological or commercial development.
  • Show clear potential for emissions reduction—direct or indirect—when adopted.
  • Be supported by a strong business case that justifies adoption.

Eligible Expenses

Eligible expenses may include:

  • Wages for allocating employees to the project
  • Contract work including temporary employees or consultants
  • Third-party testing
  • Materials and supplies
  • Equipment and infrastructure – up to 50%.
  • Select intellectual property costs

Other expenses may be eligible at NBIF’s discretion.

Deadline Date

Applicants must be submitted online at NBIF Portal by Friday, February 27th, 2026.
