The funds available through the Country Food Distribution Program will support projects that improve the viability of the harvesting economy and that increase access to affordable and healthy country food. There are two schedules in the programs: (1) Community Harvesting Transfer Fund (Schedule A) – supports initiatives that will improve the local harvesting economy; and (2) Community Harvesting Infrastructure Fund (Schedule B) – to help communities to build a modern and energy efficient community freezer, or to support other harvesting infrastructure.
- Nunavut municipalities
- Hunters and Trappers Organizations or other organizations may also be eligible with a letter of support from the municipality
Under Community Harvesting Transfer Fund:
- Utilities and maintenance cost of community freezers or other country food infrastructure.
Under Community Harvesting Infrastructure Fund:
- Repair and upgrading of existing community freezer, community market or cut and wrap facilities; and
- Design, purchase, and installation of new community freezer, community market or cut and wrap components and infrastructure.
