Emergency Fund for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea, Swine Delta Coronavirus and Senecavirus A in Québec

Description

This program is designed to support operations affected by Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED), Swine Delta Coronavirus (SDCV) and Senecavirus A (SVA) and assume certain additional costs required to:

  • Combat the virus;
  • Mitigate the financial consequences related to the infection.

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for this program, you or your business must:

  • Operate a production site infected with PED, SDCV or Senecavirus A and be located in Québec;
  • Have notified the EQSP, within at least 48 hours after receiving information from the attending veterinarian, that the site is infected with the virus;
  • Be the owner of the livestock at the infected production site;
  • Follow the instructions given by the EQSP aimed at controlling the duration of the infection and spread of the virus.

Note: It is the EQSP that will complete the registration and claim forms.

Eligible Expenses

The emergency fund will cover the following additional expenses:

  • Exceptional veterinary costs;
  • Additional costs for disposing of contaminated carcasses;
  • Additional biosafety material;
  • Additional costs for confining herds;
  • Exceptional costs for washing, disinfecting and drying buildings, equipment and trucks;
  • Other additional costs related to biosecurity measures recommended by the attending veterinarian.
