Environmental Impact Grant | Alberta Ecotrust

Description

Alberta Ecotrust Foundation has supported a diverse range of initiatives and programs, from identifying key biodiversity and conservation areas in Alberta to engaging Albertans on the issues of climate change and energy transition. We’ve also supported ecological restoration work on farms, creeks, and landscapes across the province, and many, many other important environmental initiatives over the last 30 years. Our 2025 Environmental Impact Grant responds to the urgency of both the biodiversity and climate crises as well as advancing the circular economy. It is because of these challenges that we offer funding to a variety of organizations doing important work in Alberta.

Eligible Applicants

  • Nonprofit and Qualified Canadian Donees (charitable) organisations.
  • Band Councils; Tribal Councils, Tribal Associations or Tribal Governments; and Organisations of Indigenous communities across Alberta.
  • Municipalities, the Government of Alberta and provincial agencies, academia, for-profit and private sector entities can be eligible provided they partner with a charitable and/or non-profit organization who acts as the lead proponent for the initiative.

Eligible Expenses

Grant funds can be used for any costs deemed reasonable and directly related to the initiative. We encourage applicants to use full cost accounting when determining the initiative budget. This includes:

  • Salaries
  • Contractor wages
  • Travel and accommodations
  • Existing programs that address our focus areas
  • Capacity building and knowledge transfer tools (publications, website development etc.)
  • Capital items, supplies and materials
  • Portion of rent, telephone, etc.
  • Initiative-specific training

Deadline Date

EOIs must be submitted by 6:00 pm MST on January 20th, 2025.
